Sooooo… is anyone other than me bemused by the very specific call out on female presenting nipples?

Look.  I’ll be honest with ya.  A lot of the gay men I know loooove them some nipple play.  Like a lot.  I’m endlessly laughing that one is ok and one is not while over here thinking “huh, you could hang a barbell from his nips”.

In this day and age the conflation of female presenting bodies with porn?  Just by being naked?  Says way more about the problematic nature of this to me and points to deeper problems than simply “oh, wow, they banned adult images”.  Which, while I might get it in the neck for this but.. I don’t really care.  A service/space online has the right to do that and I adjust.  I understand not everyone feels that way (and fair) but… to me “ban adult images” is one thing, “ban adult images and then weirdly define what that means with a hugely backward and fucked up definition” another.

Fair, I’d rather there not be any limiter but that’s me and not necessarily the world I live in.  So. (shrug)

Yep.  You want to ban all bare breasts, that’s fine. I mean, it’s stupid, and
the same BS that lead to breast cancer sites/discussions getting kicked offline, back in the LJ days.  Because yeah, @staff, THAT’s helpful.

But specifying “female presenting” means you’re objectifying and censoring women specifically.  Also, a lot of non-sexual art.

If you want to get rid of porn sites, then get rid of porn sites. Do the work. Don’t be sexist about it.

Thaaaaank you.  I don’t really care about “porn is bad” because… ok, that’s your (generic) thing.  But “only WOMEN are BAD” is.. all levels of fuckery.

and the word-dressing of inclusivity of “female-presenting” just makes it worse, because they’re being very clear that it’s ONLY the fact of “female,” nothing else, that they’re concerned with.

Do the effing work, @staff.

Alternatives to Tumblr if Yahoo goes any further

  1. Soup.io – well-known alternative to Tumblr. Reblogging, post types, themes, collab blogs, dashboard, artsy, great community already there. Soup can auto-import everything you’ve posted on Tumblr.
  2. TypePad – Includes reblogging. Dashboard and post types similar to Tumblr.
  3. Jux – Artful posts, beautiful blogging experience

Reblogging cause one day it just may be neccessary.

It became necessary

WordPress will also import Tumblr blogs.

i’ve gotten a lot of suggestions for pillowfort and mastodon and even newgrounds, but here are some other alternatives.

Tonight’s badly lit delight: some not-quite-ramen with rice noodles to go with leftover broth and toppings from last night.

That turned out good enough that I don’t mind having more, eating on my own today. Mr. C seemed to agree, since it didn’t take him very long to slurp down two big bowls last night 😊 That’s somewhat unusual with soups around here.

(So now both the cats have been drawn into the kitchen by the chicken smell, and are hanging around my ankles…)

So, yeah, back up your blogs. Tumblr’s algorithm doesn’t work for shit at actually finding NSFW content. Even if you’ve never posted anything that could remotely be construed as porn, back up your blog. Tumblr has flagged funny cat videos as sensitive. It’s flagged gushy Rumbelle posts about how cute they are as sensitive. We’re all gonna get purged for reblogging fully clothed selfies because this site is run by complete imbeciles.

What if I have no idea how to back up my blog?

Here you go

Seconding this. If my side blog full of clothing images could get flagged as explicit, so can yours.

Another option: Exporting to WordPress

I don’t post NSFW content for the most part, but I have zero confidence in the ability of any screening algorithm developed by Tumblr to tell the difference between a picture of two characters Doing It™ with gusto and a picture of a doorknob, so I am by no means considering myself exempt LOL.

Tumblr once thought a video clip of my Kylo Ren toy dancing to a jazz band was porn
