hi there…i hate to request assistance on here at such a busy time of year, but it doesn’t look like i’m going to be able to get out of paying this medical bill and i don’t have the extra funds to pay it right now because i’m still not back to work.
about 4-5 months ago, i woke up to a large, reddish-purple spot on my face that was extremely swollen, painful, and itchy. weeks went by and it seemed to be getting worse, growing larger, burning, and waking me up in pain at night when i rolled on my side in my sleep.
i began to worry that i had staph on my face or some other sort of skin infection that needed professional attention (i’m sure if you go back on my blog you can find posts i made about this), so i decided to make an appointment with a dermatologist. i have medicaid and called both medicaid and the dermatologist in advance to be sure that the version of medicaid i have would be accepted, then made an appointment. it turns out that the spot was/is just an acne cyst – it is still healing.
because acne treatment is considered a cosmetic issue, i was denied coverage for my initial office visit even though i went in thinking i had a serious infection. had i known the spot was just acne, i would have handled everything differently. i told family members who are assisting me with some medical expenses that this expense would be fully covered; they are now unwilling to help me because they think i incurred this “frivolous” expense carelessly EVEN THOUGH i did everything i knew to do to be sure i was covered. I DID NOT KNOW I WOULD BE GETTING BILLED.
the total cost of the office visit is $160.00. proof of the bill is under the cut – all personal information is censored, including my real first name (which i do not use here). thank you very much in advance for reading, helping, or reblogging.
venmo: supermerk cashapp: $Supermerk paypal is also available but my account has my full name attached and i don’t feel comfortable posting it publicly – please send me a private message if this is the best method for you!
I recently rescued a cat named Kirby from a place he was not wanted and upon getting him home, we noticed he had a hernia that needed to be treated ASAP. He’s an absolute sweetheart and I want to give him the love and care he deserves.
Unfortunately right now I don’t have the money to spend on a surgery like this and I need help. My friends & family are also tight on money and can’t afford to help me out which is why I’ve turned to here.
If you can help me cover his surgery, that would be amazing.
The estimate I have gotten from the local vet is around $750 so I would need at least that amount to get him his surgery.
I’m seeing a lot of arguing about mastodon, so as someone who remembers how IRC servers work: essentially mastodon is a protocol and what happens is people create individual instances of it, and the people running the individual instances support their own rules. Think of it like discord servers, but without a universal discord TOS. What may be against the rules on one server may be allowed on another. I’ve also seen people site the rules for mastodon.social-which are pretty good, but they’re just that instance’s rules. Other instances have their own rules.
Basically it’s a tool like e-mail: anyone create an instance of it, and before signing up to any network make sure it’s something that you want to join. And just like there’s no central e-mail authority, there’s no central mastodon authority-meaning malicious instances have to reported to the relevant authorities, because mastodon isn’t a company you can report that stuff to like say discord or twitter, it’s like a spyware company hosting their own e-mail servers for fraud.
