I don’t know whether to be offended by the blatant bigotry being displayed, or to be grateful for the mental of image of a Jewish-Muslim gang pulling off a livestock heist in the French countryside.

It’s also anti Romani.

From the article, with no evidence, “Roma traders sold some 200 stolen sheep in 2013 ahead of the Muslim holiday [Eid al-Adha] to worshipers. The sheep were sold for approximately half of their market value.”

It’s a trifecta of bigotry; fun for everyone.

In the two weeks since white supremacists marched on Charlottesville, more than two dozen anti-Semitic incidents have occurred across the U.S.

The anti-Semitic aims of the rally — which the Anti-Defamation League has called the largest of its kind in over a decade — were apparent the day before it started, when organizer and white nationalist leader Richard Spencer published his “Charlottesville statement.” This malevolent manifesto described Jews as an “ethno-religious people distinct from Europeans” who are resistant to assimilation and are hostile to non-Jews.

Now, the Anti-Defamation League is concerned that the large display of hatred in Charlottesville “could inspire copycat incidents or acts of hate against Jews or Jewish institutions in other parts of the country,” the group said in a statement.

The ADL provided a lengthy list to HuffPost of anti-Semitic incidents over the past two weeks. A spokesman for the group says the number of incidents is “higher than usual” when compared with other recent two-week periods. [The following is not a complete list.]

On Aug. 13, a man made an obscene gesture to a security camera outside a Philadelphia synagogue. He then urinated on the synagogue.

On Aug. 13, someone drew a swastika on the door of a woman’s home in Manistee County, Michigan.

…On Aug. 15, the anti-Semitic slur “KIKE” was spray-painted on a building in Washington, D.C.

…On Aug. 15 or 16, someone spray-painted swastikas on the driveway of a home in Lakewood, Ohio. Earlier that week, someone smashed in the windows of that family’s car.

…On Aug. 20, a family in Westerville, Ohio, discovered the word “Jew” written in shaving cream near their driveway. Their neighbors also found Nazi flyers in their front lawns.

…On Aug. 21, a swastika was painted on a sidewalk near an elementary school in Las Vegas.

On Aug. 21, swastikas and a bomb threat were discovered carved into the walls of a Washington State University dormitory in Pullman, Washington, prompting an evacuation.

…Still, the past two weeks have brought rising American anti-Semitism into focus. The ADL says anti-Semitic incidents surged by 34 percent in 2016 compared with the previous year. In the first quarter of 2017, the number of incidents jumped 86 percent compared with the same period in 2016.

Belarus court clears way for luxury apartments to be built on top of Jewish cemeteries

A judge in Belarus cleared the way for the construction of apartments atop two former Jewish cemeteries on Monday, saying the court lacks the jurisdiction to take any action, Radio Svoboda reported.

The Tsentralny District Court allowed the planned construction of the apartments on the former Jewish cemetery in the eastern city of Gomel. The motion also pertained to earthworks already underway in the city of Mozyr at another former Jewish cemetery, as per permits issued in 2015, according to the World Association of Belarusian Jews.

The judge was ruling on a motion seeking an injunction against the construction filed by Yakov Goodman, a Jewish-American activist for the preservation of Jewish heritage sites in his native Belarus. Local authorities last year approved a project for the construction of two luxury apartment buildings on the grounds of a former cemetery on Sozhskaya Street.

Both projects mean that bones of Jews buried in the two cemeteries “will end up in city dumpsters,” Goodman told JTA earlier this week.

….Last year, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makai and Lesley Weiss, chair of the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, signed a joint declaration at the World Jewish Congress headquarters stating “Each party will take appropriate steps to protect and preserve properties that represent the cultural heritage of all national, religious, or ethnic groups that reside or resided in its territory.”

Goodman said the signing only encouraged authorities “to further attacks on Jewish heritage sites.”

Before the document was signed, Goodman’s association accused Belarusian authorities under the country’s authoritarian president, Alexander Lukashenko, of destroying three synagogues – one in Luban and two others in the capital, Minsk – and at least two Jewish cemeteries in addition to Gomel and Mozyr.

This isn’t the entire article, but I’m asking everyone to read and research what’s happening in Belarus right now. The graves of Jews are being dug up, our bodies tossed in dumpsters, all for an apartment complex. 

I recognize that there might not be anything we can do, but the information needs to be out there. Jewish Cemeteries are desecrated every day across the globe, but this is a different kind of evil.

Listen.  I love my followers and my mutuals dearly.  You know how occasionally I post something like ‘every Jew on this site has a list in their head of who reblogs what and who ignores posts about Jews’?  I’m talking about this shit.  I have been seeing things on my dash about the situation of Jews in France for over a year, but it’s coming from other Jews 99% of the time.  Please stop ignoring this.  This is literally history repeating itself and we can’t be the only ones calling it out again.

This is thankfully not a new incident, but it has kept getting passed around as one for over three years now on this site

The terms “Judeo-Christian tradition” and “Judeo-Christian morality” are wrong and misleading. They are a slap in the face of all the great Jewish teachers throughout history, whose responses to today’s moral questions would in no way resemble those of the Vatican or of the Christian Right, and whose attitudes toward sin, physical pleasure, human dignity, and the earth differ vastly from those of Christianity. The Christian faith is entitled to its doctrines and world outlook, but it is not entitled to its claim of kinship with Judaism, neither theologically nor cosmologically. At least during its centuries of barbarism and savagery against Jews and other non-Christians, Christianity was authentic enough not to associate its theology with that of Judaism. In our current age of openness and ecumenism, it ought to remain at least as authentic and not attempt to heal it’s wrongs against Jewdom by claiming retroactive fellowship with Judaic theology and cosmology. This is only a further wronging of the Jewish heritage and its way of life by a religion that has already wronged it enough.

The reason I regard it as being particularly dangerous for the left is precisely because anti-semitism has a pseudo-emancipatory dimension that other forms of racism rarely have.

pool in my hometown on Long Island, our yarmulkes pinned to wet hair. By
then, I was big enough to feel shame for the younger kids, who knew no
better than to scurry around, as our local anti-Semites laughed.

I
remember walking home from synagogue at my father’s side, in our suits
and ties, and seeing a neighbor boy crawling on his hands and knees,
surrounded by bullies, this time picking up pennies by force. I remember
my father rushing in and righting the boy, and sending those kids
scattering.

I
remember when, at that same corner, on a different day, those budding
neo-Nazis surrounded my sister, and I raced home for help. I remember my
parents running back, and my father and mother (all five feet of her)
confronting the parents of one of the boys, who then gave him a winking,
Trumpian chiding for behavior they didn’t care to condemn. Even if it’s
“kids with horns,” they told their son, he should leave other children
alone.

If you are someone white who is at all interested in trying to learn more about the trauma of living a childhood as a
racialized person, or trying to learn more about how antisemitism
affects Jewish people on a basic, human, individual, and emotional
level- having come to understand that systemic antisemitism exists and how crucial it is to white supremacists according even to themselves- I
think this is an excellent read for you.

I am not Jewish myself, but it absolutely mirrors many of the problems and traumas of childhood as a black person that I experienced myself, and I think it is important, in these dangerous times, that we find all the sources of solidarity that we can, so if you are someone who already experiences racial subjugation every day but who doesn’t know much about antisemitism, I would recommend this to you as well.
