Backup fan obtained!

The similar model in the bedroom decided to start making worrying bearing noises. So, especially with this ongoing heatwave? I figured I should probably go ahead and get another one in case it does conk out.

I can’t sleep without at least a fan in even slightly warm weather, much less with the bedroom staying over 80F again. That’s enough of a sweatbox with a decently working fan, with this island humidity.

These move a surprising amount of air for something that size, and this one was only around £12. No reason not to go ahead and get a backup.

Though, I may set this one up for the kitchen in the meantime. Been using the fan setting on the space heater, which is way better than no air movement when you’re trying to work in there. Not as good a breeze as with a fan intended for the purpose, though.

That pasta order finally showed up. Or, I’m assuming it’s the pasta since that’s the only thing I was expecting via UPS.

Definitely not the quickest shipping, and the last time I checked they still had the order marked as “processing” 🤔 But, hopefully it’s finally here.

…As soon as I probably take a cab to the UPS pickup place, that is. Because of course I missed the attempted delivery today, and they didn’t leave it with a neighbor or anything.

Frustrated again at being in such lousy health now, because the pickup place listed is close enough that a few years ago I would have just biked over there and strapped the package on the rear rack. Easy enough. Now, I can’t do that, and lugging a 20+ lb box home without a car isn’t really an option in general. But, there are cabs, and I will be glad to get that pasta 🙄

Impressed yet again at how muggy even this can feel, in a damp climate not much above sea level. Where that’s unusually hot.

We may get more thunderstorms to make it that much stickier, tomorrow too. Hasn’t stormed since last night, but that rain is probably still helping with the humidity now.

OK, looks like the trim job will have to wait. Because of course I couldn’t find where I stashed the hair scissors “safe” after the last time I used them. And this place is enough of a wreck that I don’t have the energy to hunt too hard right now 😬

Not going to stress about it too much, though. I considered just trying the fabric scissors since I’m not exactly trying for a precision cut here–but thought better of it and got another pair of proper hair shears on the way. To keep where I can find them again, with any luck.

I really don’t like replacing items thanks to lousy executive function and the clutter around here, but nerds must and all that.

Not the best all-over body day so far, but at least I did make it up the street shopping a little while ago. Both the cats and I should be good for very low spoons food until tomorrow, if not Saturday.

I should probably try to get a grocery delivery set up for over the weekend, for items I can’t get without a bus trip otherwise. But, I really don’t have the spoons for even that right at the moment. (Which is part of how it keeps not happening, but hey 😑)

One benefit of being on my own, though: not feeling many qualms about piling up and resting if I need to. No responsibilities to anybody but the animals for the time being, and nobody else’s scheduling needs to try and work around.

It is of course frustrating again that trying to stay fed, etc., on my own for a couple of weeks is even a challenge. But, I really am trying here. Also frustrating to keep needing to tell yourself that, but again doing my best.

Though, that also reminds me that I got the replacement battery for the Nexus 10, but still haven’t managed to swap it out. Because spoons. Though it should be straightforward enough to replace.

Hopefully that will fix the crazy bullshit it started pulling, which was apparently down to a dying battery for some other people. And it’s old enough.

But yeah, having the tablet on the fritz right now didn’t make me any happier about the phone starting to do ridiculous shit too. As the one working device on hand. But, with any luck, the tablet will be back up soon too.

Wish I’d thought to try that earlier.

Doing some troubleshooting, I decided to try clearing data on Google Play Services. Freed up >1GB of internal storage (after it’s reloaded what it needs so far), and the phone has been running at least 300% more smoothly. For about a day now. *crosses fingers*

Something kept going bonkers and eating up all the space it could so that I would get low storage warnings and things started lagging badly, in a way that cache clearing didn’t fix. (A reboot usually did, at least. Sometimes it would just start doing that again immediately 😬) With no new apps recently, which was the first thing that came to mind.

That hasn’t happened since clearing Play Services data, and here’s hoping the issue is fixed for now. *fingers crossed*

ETA: I was this close to doing a factory reset yesterday, with all the aggravation that entails. Now, not so much.

I guess we’ll be hearing about the “summery” weather again 😀

(Any time it gets over 60-65F, pretty much. These things are very relative, but I still have to get amused sometimes. That would be pretty warm and sunny for July hereabouts.)

This afternoon was a pleasant surprise, and I’m not about to complain about the forecast for the rest of the week.

Yay for Prime delivery again, having trouble getting out shopping.

My headphones suddenly lost sound in one ear last night. They’ve gotten heavy use for several years now, but that was still annoying. Thankfully I did know where some backup earbuds were (still in the box from my latest phone, actually). Better than nothing, but I wanted some decent replacement over ear headphones ASAP.

Finally remembered to do the monthly bank shuffling and order some a little while ago, after an evening with those ill-fitting earbuds 🙄

Instead of going with the same model as the last two sets, I decided to spring for an extra £20 and try wireless this time, as tired as I get of snagging the cord on stuff.

Couldn’t get the color I wanted, but I did find something not terrible looking at a decent price. Would have maybe gone for the black and chrome if they hadn’t been like £12 more than the blue. Hopefully the sound quality and comfort factor will be as good as the ones that just died. Reviews seem to be about the same, at least.

Even better: with evening delivery tomorrow! (Technically same day, since it’s after midnight here.) As much as I do use the headphones, that was welcome.

I had already concluded that they just weren’t coming, but I finally got those thermal socks! (6 pairs.) Ordered on the 9th, looking now.

Probably just as well that there was no sheep included, with the shipping time. Might be the difference between Prime shipping and not, in the run-up to Christmas, since they were listed as plenty in stock 🙄

(And it was Amazon delivering. While I was in the bathroom earlier, of course, but I was extra glad I made it to the door before the guy left.)

It had warmed up some in the meantime, but these are about to go straight into the washing machine because I want them wearable ASAP. It’s back to hovering around freezing–actually really cold for here–and the heating in here leaves a lot to be desired.

Now I’m just hoping the wool content won’t itch my feet off. I hate buying clothes and maybe especially socks without being able to feel the material first, but these do seem pretty soft and non-prickly. How my feet may feel about it is a different matter, but we’ll see.

Also still not thrilled about needing to get the special non-binding socks, preferably with cushioned soles, but at least you can find a somewhat decent selection online. Could have done without the wait on these, however.
