Photo of the Day – The Little Bee-eater (Merops pusillus) is a resident throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa. These are fairly tame birds that are quite common within their range. Unlike most bee-eaters, this species is a solitary nester, usually making a tunnel in sandy banks.

This photo was taken by Rich Lindie in Ethiopia

Photo of the Day – The Pied Kingfisher (Ceryle rudis) is widely distributed across Africa and Asia. The bird likes to hover over waterbodies before diving for fish. This, coupled with its black and white plumage and crest, are what makes it distinctive.

This amazing photo of an individual hovering in search of fish was taken by Rich Lindie
