The suckered have to admit they bought the con job. Own up. You got played. Your judgment is flawed. You like racial narratives that appeal to the worst in people.
We don’t need to beg. The European court of justice today confirmed Britain can go back and withdraw, without any of the EU stopping us or putting extra demands on us.
We can pull article 50 ( which was the parliamentary starting gun for Brexit) which Mrs May triggered far too quickly.
Today she postponed the vote in Parliament because she knew that the deal she had made with the EU wouldn’t get through tomorrow.
By the way both trump and Brexit can be linked to Russian financial meddling. ( they appear to have bankrolled the Vote leave organisation.)
Polite reminder. Trump & Brexit are not 2 different things. They are the same thing. Same companies. Same data. Same Facebook. Same Russians. Same Cambridge Analytica. Same Robert Mercer. Same Steve Bannon. Same Breitbart. Same Alexander Nix. Same Donald Trump. Same Nigel Farage.
That said, I don’t think many supporters of either side of that mess are ever going to be able to admit they were purposely fed all kinds of bad information. Maybe find some other targets to double down on with the blaming and scapegoating, but face the idea that they were wrong? Unfortunately unlikely, even to themselves.
How to reasonably deal with that and move forward? Hard to figure out. But, that does seem to be the situation in front of us.
unfortunately, i very much doubt this is making a dent in his narcissism. by now he’s almost certainly rewritten his memory so it didn’t happen, or they were laughing with him not at him, and by next week he’ll be telling his rallies how the UN hung breathlessly on his every word.
he’ll be talking about what a great comedian he is, absolutely the best, had everyone in rolling on the floor.
just, the fact that so many people, myself included, have to crowdfund to get like the bare minimum of what it takes to survive is so fucking terrible. and the guilt people are made to feel for asking for help is awful. people need help. why do people need to be ashamed of needing help. why is food stamp, food bank, and charity culture so fucking shamed. why do people act like it’s humiliating to ask for help. why can someone in need not ask for $20 for their sick mom, hungry siblings, or own personal emergency without being criticized and shamed for it.
It’s already started! Not 5 minutes after she won, the usual antisemitic (mainly leftwing corbynite, some rightwing fash-y, ofc, in case you wondered) types have come crawling out of the woodwork to cry about how “Israel shouldn’t exist as a country, yadda yadda, surely this is the one country to have ever had a fractious domestic political system, how could the european public vote to crown a …you know. You know what she is. Jewish– no wait I meant Zionist. That’ll cover it. I’m totally motivated by care for random Palestinians and not because I’m a giant piece of trash. Israel’s not even in Europe* anyway.”
If I wasn’t already supporting her because of her song, I’d be supporting her out of spite because it’s upset the racists…
*(The answer to the last question is – because if you knew your Eurovision history you’d know it was because Israel is a founder member of the EBU, you fake Eurovision fans.)
Yeah, if I had a quid for every time I saw ‘butbutbut Israel isn’t in Europe!’ I’d be loaded. Oddly enough, no-one says this about Turkey, Georgia, Armenia or Azerbaijan.
not that being undiagnosed or diagnosed as a child are the same, but everything i thought was an Early Diagnosed experience i’ve found some people who were undiagnosed in childhood had it too (and sometimes even attributed it to being undiagnosed) and every time i’ve heard “since i was undiagnosed as a child” “i wish i had been diagnosed so i wouldn’t have gone through x” it’s something that happens to autistic diagnosed children too
Really, we had to take multiple classes about North Carolina’s history and all they taught us was “we grew tobacco and indigo, we fought the British, there were some slaves, then the slaves were free, the end.”
I went through school in Virginia, and this sounds eerily familiar. Swap Pocahontas mythology for the indigo, and yammer on repeatedly about being The First Permanent English Colony, and that about covers it next colony over too.
