Advances in medicine only help if people have access to them.

This is our reality. #ChronicLife #SaveMedicaid

This is really important because there us like, a certain level of gaslighting going on with this stuff.

Like I HAVE insurance. As far as “will insurance cover a drs visit and some treatment for this” the answer is usually “yes”.

But this doesn’t mean when I go in the doctor will take me seriously and run tests or order treatment, if they do it doesn’t mean the insurance will allow those SPECIFIC ones vs a mediocre one that is probably not going to work because the doctor took too long to diagnose it.

I have insurance and I am still scared. People will brush this off, this is america in 2017, I have insurance, it will get me in the door of big hospitals even if the only thing that comes of the visit is being told they don’t treat people like me.

“These things are managable with treatment many people* live long healthy lives”

*people in question who have been quickly diagnosed, had treatment started, and could afford said treatment even when half if it was out of pocket

It’s like when you buy something and it says “up to ___” as a selling point. You can have UP TO this level of health and function. And just like you high speed Internet TECHNICALLY is telling the truth when servicing you with 50% the speed you pay for, your actual access to healthcare may vary.
