The Mazumbai warty frog [Callulina kisiwamsitu] is an endangered little forest dweller endemic to Tanzania. They’re known to be threatened by logging and human expansion, though a reliable estimate of their population is currently unknown. Images by Specie Animali Tanzania.

Those spots! That build! That look of determination! The red-spotted burrowing frog [Leptodactylus laticeps] is a species worthy of the highest praise. It can be found in forests and temporary ponds in Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia, and is a skilled burrower true to its name. While this frog is a striking and attractive species it’s important to note that its collection for the pet trade has left a dent in its numbers, and it’s better to admire it in its natural habitat as opposed to as a collector’s item.
