🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
were taking news from haaretz now are we ?!
Should I not? Do you actually think Haaretz is making this up?
so no Australian news outlet covered this ? besides im not taking any news that comes from tel aviv Â
I imagine AUSTRIAN news covered this but it would have been in German.
as an austrian I can confirm that this story isn’t made up
we really have that many rightwingers and fascists
here are some austrian sources for anyone who’s interested
IKG (Viennese Jewish community) – basically confirms what’s above
Wiener Zeitung – broke the story, provides notable quote from waldhäusl: “we aren’t here to make kosher-slaughtered meat available to the viennese”. they want to restrict the buying of kosher meat to people who can prove that they always eat only kosher (”because the right of free religious expression is only an individual one”) hence the registration, övp says registration won’t happen but they are more than willing to work with the fpö insofar as restricting kosher slaughter
Kurier – basically a rehash of the WZ article
Der Standard – a take that focuses more on politics, övp wants to “find a solution that does not upset the IKG’s concerns” but again they are totally down to restrict kosher slaughter, spö and liste pilz call them out for behaving in a nazi-like way. also notes that restricting kosher slaughter will have implications for the muslim community because halal meatand yeah the fpö being founded by ex-nazis is not exactly a secret in austria and its members constantly land themselves in hot water because they’re always getting caught being antisemitic. the most recent big one that comes to mind is the burschenschaft scandal earlier this year (long story short, guy was in a nazi frat). not that austrian antisemitism is limited to the far right! but they seem to be the ones who flaunt it the most
Its awfully telling that you care more about a News article being from an Israeli paper than the Austrian government’s former Nazi members trying to recreate discriminatory policies and making registries.
“so no Australian news outlet covered this ? besides im not taking any news that comes from tel aviv”Â
1) Austrian, not Australian
2) Translation: “At least half of all the world’s Jews are sneaky liars.”Â
Anyone who sees news about a Freedom Party being deeply and terrifyingly antisemitic and reacts with scepticism is dangerously uninformed. Confirm what you read, sure, but the default reaction to accusations of antisemitism against neo-Nazis should be “oh shit”, not “weeelll maybe…”
there’s a lot of confusion about what it means to be a Nazi in this day and age, and while you could get pedantic and say that only some Germans between 1920 and 1945 could be considered Nazis I think it’s reasonable to extend the title to anyone if:
 – you think of the world as a struggle between ethnoracial groups, not social classes or individuals
 – you identify the nation with the race and the race with the nation
 – you expect an imminent race war and intend to win or die trying
 – you believe the usual gamut of antisemitic conspiracy theories
 – you prefer society to be organised on military lines, a hierarchy of appointed leaders with absolute authority and no democratic oversight or opposition
 – you believe in conformity to traditional social norms and are willing to maintain them by force if necessary
Japanese and Italian fascists ticked most of these with less emphasis on the antisemitism, as do various other groups, but having the complete set makes you pretty damn close to Nazi (although it needs a note about the whole “Aryan” thing, obviously).
What I’m used to seeing here in Norway (and this appear to be fairly similar in much of Europe) is that – when political activists without personal ties to the Third Reich are seen to deliberately adopt or mimic the ideology and symbolism of the Reich, they rather consistently get called Neo-Nazis; the “Nazi” label, when applied to people without neo-type prefixes, seems to be mostly reserved for the people who actually served the Reich in some capacity back when it still existed. (This doesn’t seem strictly limited to Germans; it used to be fairly common here in Norway to have “he was a Nazi during the war” as a dark family secret, for ethnic Norwegians who actively supported the German Nazis back when they occupied Norway in the early 1940s.)
Examples of the kind of people/movements that have been getting the Neo-Nazi label here include e.g. Richard B. Spencer, the South African AWB movement, the Greek Golden Dawn party, and a lot of smaller movements throughout Europe.
I’m kind of thinking that a reason for making the Nazi vs Neo-Nazi distinction here at least is that when these sorts of movements started arising here – e.g. Erik Blucher’s Norwegian Front, founded in 1975 – a lot of people still had a rather fresh memory of what the Third Reich and the World War II Nazi occupation were like, and saw things like Blucher’s silly little organization and similar as – not really the same thing as the original German Nazism was, and as such, it got its own label.
yes, Neo-Nazi is more accurate and also sounds super lame.

Punch Nazis!
What that series looks like to me is a man willing to take insults and punches to his face while remaining calm. Is really not how nazi-wannabes should be shown. Makes them look like martyrs.
Isn’t even how most nazi-wannabes reacts to simplest insults.
If you needs to punch a nazi-wannabe, hit one that is being actively offensive (more than the salute). One of the majority rabid bigots what gets the dog snarl on his face for just seeing peoples protest his bigotry.
How someone got a calm nazi-wannabe is a mystery (since most is rabid hate-mongers), and is more a mystery why it was chosen as symbolic, since it makes the nazi-wannabe puncher look worse.Come on, can do better. There is lots of ways to make nazi-wannabes look bad (they does it to themselves so often). Punching them while they stand and take it calmly is not one of them.
Just a reminder, because I think we legitimately forget sometimes:
Nazis weren’t just the soldiers with guns at the entrances to death camps. They weren’t just the guys who ushered people into the gas chambers. They weren’t just the politicians signing the orders to invade other countries, or the generals ordering their troops to execute civilians.
Nazis were also the people who joined the party because it was the social thing to do. They were the people who looked the other way when their Jewish neighbors were hauled off. They were the actors who put their careers above the lives of others in order to take roles in propaganda films. They were the civilians who asked “But what do we do about the Jewish problem???” and expected a legitimate answer. They were the people who registered, and put their names on a list so they could have a little bit of social fortune while it was still popular to do so.
Those people were Nazis too.
So when I say you’re acting like a Nazi, I’m not saying you’re the one throwing the switch on the gas chambers or pulling the trigger on a gun. I’m saying you are legitimizing and supporting a political ideology which harms other people, and history will prove you wrong.
Actual Nazis have found this post, so let’s send it around again please
My grandfather was in the Nazi party. I didn’t know him very well, he was a rather closed-off patriarchial figure, but the day I found a photo of him with that NSDAP pin on his lapel (after his death), I was seriously gob-smacked.Â
It’s so easy to picture Nazis as these hatemongering fanatics, when in fact so many “normal” people were a part of it because it made their lives easier (my grandfather wouldn’t have been able to keep his business otherwise). By not caring, keeping quiet and going along with it, they enabled the whole thing.Â

A 22-year-old neo-Nazi, who labelled Jews “parasites” who should be “eradicated” was found guilty of incitement to racial hatred at Preston Crown Court, by a unanimous jury. CST initially reported two speeches by the individual, who CST had been aware of for several years, to the Police. The man has been given a total sentence of three years in jail.

I think finding out that Hitler was inspired by how throughly Andrew Jackson committed genocide against the Natives would shatter or at least destabilize the ethos of the Founding Fathers & America for a lot of people
but yeah, nazism is so un-american uwuÂ
Hitler praised American immigration restrictions in Mein Kampf. When the nazis wrote the notorious Nuremberg Laws, the centerpiece anti-Jewish legislation of the Nazi regime, they specifically modelled them after the Jim Crow Laws,
the Citizenship Law and the Blood Law of the United States. Â
Big chunks of the American legal system and history inspired the nazi’s in their organisation of the Holocaust.Â
Welp
At bare minimum, America was founded on two massive crimes against humanity: native genocide and slavery. To pretend that it’s some pristine shining beacon of freedom actually weakens us as a country, because we don’t deal with the demons of our past, which makes us vulnerable to continued injustice.
For people to cast realism as “hating America” is disgusting. We’re a flawed nation built on a good principle that we applied unevenly. Admitting that and trying to do better is strength, not weakness.

She took up acting because the malnutrition she suffered under the nazis permanently damaged her health and prevented her from pursuing her dream to be a ballerina. During the war, she danced to raise money for the resistance – even though she was literally starving, she used what strength she had to make sure more nazis got shot.Â
Also, just from a quick perusal of Wikipedia:
“We saw young men put against the wall and shot, and they’d close the street and then open it and you could pass by again…Don’t discount anything awful you hear or read about the Nazis. It’s worse than you could ever imagine.”[9]
—Hepburn on the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands
———
In the mid-1930s, Hepburn’s parents recruited and collected donations for the British Union of Fascists.[14]
(‘It changed its name to the “British Union of Fascists and National Socialists” in 1936 and, in 1937, to “British Union”. It was finally disbanded in 1940 after it was proscribed by the British government, following the start of the Second World War.’ – source)
Sounds like Dad’s project.
Joseph left the family abruptly in 1935 and moved to London, where he became more deeply involved in Fascist activity and never visited his daughter abroad.[15] Hepburn later professed that her father’s departure was “the most traumatic event of my life”…Hepburn’s parents officially divorced in 1938. In the 1960s, Hepburn renewed contact with her father after locating him in Dublin through the Red Cross…
Meanwhile, while Dad was whooping it up with Mosley and the gang? The family lost everything under the occupation, and ended up eating tulip bulbs under the German blockade.
Hepburn’s half-brother Ian was deported to Berlin to work in a German labour camp, and her other half-brother Alex went into hiding to avoid the same fate…
In addition to other traumatic events, she witnessed the transportation of Dutch Jews to concentration camps, later stating that “more than once I was at the station seeing trainloads of Jews being transported, seeing all these faces over the top of the wagon. I remember, very sharply, one little boy standing with his parents on the platform, very pale, very blond, wearing a coat that was much too big for him, and he stepped on the train. I was a child observing a child.”
Can’t imagine any of those experiences would have made the lady more sympathetic to far right movements. And this information is not difficult to find. She didn’t exactly keep her views secret.
a jewish kid was murdered by a nazi last week in california and almost none of the articles about it are mentioning that he was jewish or that his murderer was a nazi
he was taken into the woods by someone he thought was a friend and killed. hits pretty close to home bc multiple relatives of mine, including my great-great-grandfather, were taken into the woods by their own neighbors and killed during the holocaust
Jewish and openly gay. This article is the most frank about it that i’ve seen.
