I have been avoiding calling my doctor’s office to schedule a physical out of social anxiety, but I know it’s getting close to time for one. I was planning to do it on my birthday, since it’s a weekday and I’m off work.

I just got a text from the doctor’s office telling me to schedule it and giving me a link to click or a phone number to call. If I click the link and that results in me being able to schedule it without having to call a stranger, I will get down on my knees and thank the universe.

Seriously, more places need to let you schedule things through texts or online. I’m not the only person out here with horrible anxiety about calling strangers on the phone.

Seriously though. Besides for deaf/HOH/APD people. Plenty of reasons voice calls might not be accessible.

(Including combo deals. My hearing and auditory processing make voice calls a really miserable experience most of the time now, so of course I get nervous whenever there’s no more accessible choice. Especially considering how crappy too many people on the other end will act when you’re obviously struggling and need to ask for repeats/hear something wrong.)

Can rarely make myself do that unless it’s an emergency situation anymore. And patients/customers should not be placed in that situation, when they’re basically having to work at not implementing any more accessible communication options by now.

Apparently needed to rant some, but definitely wishing you luck dealing with the doctor’s office!

Wish I’d thought to try that earlier.

Doing some troubleshooting, I decided to try clearing data on Google Play Services. Freed up >1GB of internal storage (after it’s reloaded what it needs so far), and the phone has been running at least 300% more smoothly. For about a day now. *crosses fingers*

Something kept going bonkers and eating up all the space it could so that I would get low storage warnings and things started lagging badly, in a way that cache clearing didn’t fix. (A reboot usually did, at least. Sometimes it would just start doing that again immediately 😬) With no new apps recently, which was the first thing that came to mind.

That hasn’t happened since clearing Play Services data, and here’s hoping the issue is fixed for now. *fingers crossed*

ETA: I was this close to doing a factory reset yesterday, with all the aggravation that entails. Now, not so much.

The evolution of my cell phones during four years of high school. I dropped all three in the toilet at one point, the iPhone died, the Razr survived and the Nokia broke the toilet.

An aquaintance from freshman year of high school chucked her first phone, a twin of mine, off a second story balcony at a cement patio in an attempt to force her parents to get her a newer phone.

She chipped the patio and gouged the rubbery coating.

My partner knew a guy with one of the old metal frame Ericssons, way back when. And he would use the side edge of it as a hammer, in a pinch.

They certainly had a reputation for being sturdy, but watching that still kinda impressed Mr. C.

I hate giving ppl my phone number cuz then they’ll be calling and texting me like … this is my safe space … show some respect

a voicemail bitch a voicemail? are we married?

You provided your number

“here’s my credit card, never use it”

“here’s my car, don’t drive it”

“here’s my phone number, don’t call it”

I’m not trying to be smart or anything but I really can’t tell what’s wrong with those quoted sentences

If you have my number and you’re calling without a legitimate reason (death, alien invasion, free food, or gambling with Death (The Reaper)), you’re using my number wrong and intruding on my safe zone. Also, be aware, I may be panicking when I answer the phone.

me: *deletes fucking everything off my phone*

phone: your storage is almost full

When you delete things off of a mobile device (like a phone or digital camera), the file goes to your phone’s recycle bin (just like on a desktop computer or laptop), typically an invisible folder named .trashes or .trash. There, it continues to take up the same amount of memory storage as it did before you ‘deleted’ it. To empty your mobile device’s recycling bin, plug your phone into your desktop or laptop via USB as a memory device, right click on your desktop/laptop’s recycling bin/trash, and tell it to empty your recycling bin/empty trash. Your computer will empty all .trash/.trashes folders, including the one on your phone, actually deleting the files permanently this time, freeing up your phone/camera’s memory space. Reblog to save a life.

(I know this works on MAC with my Andriod, it’s not too far a stretch to do the same on Windows and/or with other phones as well. In fact, it should be easier to do on Windows since Windows Explorer is more conducive to finding hidden folders.)

FINDING THIS RANDOM POST ON MY DASHBOARD GAVE ME THE BEST ANSWER TO SHIT I’VE BEEN GOOGLING ABOUT FOR MONTHS!!!

HOLY

Check if your phone’s file manager doesnt have an option to look and empty your recycle bin. My Asus’ Zenfone 2 has it.

I use Android Assistant or Samsung’s stock Smart Manager to quickly clear out cache space and unwanted files like that. Plenty of options available, if you search. Besides basic file managers, as mentioned.

(On a semi-related note, to free up more storage space? You might also want to periodically check downloaded documents. I forgot to do that for a while, and got back about 1GB from the pileup of random PDFs, etc. 😨 Felt like a dumbass for not doing it earlier, but glad for the space.)

since I’m 18 now I had to call the hospital myself to get test results and I was simply planning on saying that I had a blood test last week and if I could get the results back but when the woman answered I said “I want my blood back” and hung up the phone, so I’m never trying that again

Well, that was fun. I somehow accidentally fouled up my phone keyboard so it was only showing predictive text choices… and no keyboard at all! 🤔

Couldn’t figure out a way to get it back, either. At least without using another device with a working keyboard to do some searching. And of course I forgot to plug in the tablet earlier and let it run down.

Finally used voice search for the first time ever (deliberately, at least) to find a different keyboard app. Probably missed something bleedingly obvious, but we’ll soon find out

Accidentally prematurely posted that. Still haven’t found out what I managed to do, but it fixed itself when I tried switching back to the stock keyboard in settings ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Pretty sure it wasn’t just a weird glitch, since I did accidentally switch it to another weird mode before that, and then that happened while trying to change it back.
