This is a plant from the genus Trachyandra, specifically known as a Crassula succulent. They are mostly found throughout southern Africa and Madagascar.
I am reblogging so I can look into this more closely. Because 1. That looks kind of like polymer clay; and 2. Crassula is a genus of succulent, containing over 1400 species of plant, and I’m on mobile.
I can never tell if succulents I haven’t seen are real or not because all succulents look fake in the first place
Here to tell you HAPPILY cause i love these plants that they are in fact real BUT the actual name of the plant is Trachyandra tortilis! They also come in a flat leaf version with curled or wavy leaves!!
are lovely little plants that need lots of sunlight or a good full-spectrum light, and do well as indoor plants! They’re kind of all-or-nothing though- if they don’t like their conditions, they die pretty much immediately (don’t feel bad they’re picky and I’m sure you did your best) but if they DO like them, you’ll get oodles and oodles of them.
A+ content important I would also suggest soft goth things such as
blackbird euphorbia (maybe tender here maybe niagara goths can have u)
black negligee bugbane
chocoholic bugbane (tbh all bugbane is prolific and spoopy and wonderful)
hellebore black swan maybe also tender?
black truffle cardinal flower
the ever fave heuchera obsidian
britt marie crawford ligularia FAVE JURASSIC LOOKING BB
and obv purple smokebush for soft goth smoke monster vibes

Black pearl pepper is another good one, I can attest that they look really cool in person. Aside from being ornamental, the little peppers are edible, and I think decently hot? I haven’t tasted them though so idk about that part
Black Pearl plants are EXTREMELY drought hardy and the peppers taste great, yes! I love mine even though I’ve given it less than stellar care; I’ve had it for…almost 10 years I think!

right?? I’ve seen them and I still don’t think they’re real 😂 a friend of mine says Ojibwe people would dry them out and use them as scrubbers. I guess over the years cultivated cucumbers turned their spikes into those weird little bumps??

Wild cucumbers are awesome! Their long name is Echinocystis lobata. They grow in the wild all over the United States.

okay so i got this book today and spent like 6 hours reading it and im almost done but i really wanna talk about this plant nerd and his many endangered plonts that he loves and protects with all his heart and soul
carlos magdalena, kew botanical horticulturalist, is honestly an unproblematic fave
also btw heres some pics of carlos with the smallest water lily in the world, which he saved from extinction. he talks in the book about how he learned later on that at the time he finally figured out how to propagate this species in cultivation, rats had broken in and killed the only other specimens in the world at the german conservatory they were being kept at, and the habitat where the 1 or 2 wild plants had been living had been destroyed for a concrete company. he had been working with the last seeds in literal existence without knowing it (he had assumed they were still alive) and the other scientists and botanical horticulturalists in germany had been living in grief over having lost this plant to apparent extinction. he originally had 200 seeds recruited for trying to cultivate the species, and by the time he realized how to do cultivate it, he had been working with the last 5 seeds in the world. he didn’t know at the time. So my Grandma apparently is running a plant hospital and rehabilitation center. She can get anything to grow abundantly, so in the past few decades people have literally started dropping off sick and dying plants to her and she would nurse them back to health and return them. She only charges a single clipping from each of the plants she nurses. 🌱🌿🍃I’m so proud of my Plant Doctor Grandma! 😌
