‘bi people can pass as straight!’

anyone can pass as straight, if they silence themselves enough.

SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!

BTW, I’m primarily attracted to women. I doubt that, should I find a life partner, it’ll be a man. I just see no reason to pretend I’m not attracted to men, because I’m not sure who that benefits other than mean people.

When these gremlins say “I don’t have to care about you because you’ll probably end up with a man,” they’re saying “I’m not listening to you; I just want you to do something that makes you an easier target.”

Listen.

EVERYBODY knows (or should) that you DO. NOT. STOP. in Vidor, Texas.

It’s best to just run out of gas elsewhere. Whatever you do, black folks, DO NOT STOP IN VIDOR, TEXAS.

There’s a good chance you’ll get lynched or just come up missing – and I’m not joking.

also do NOT stop in Harrison, Arkansas!!!! (relatively close to OK and MI) a nazi town with a BIG KKK organization.

Reblog To Save Life

Unsurprisingly, Harrison also has a fucking terrible crime rate and really bad education. So much for “no bad neighborhoods.“ I suppose that’s technically true, when the entire town is bad, but not exactly in keeping with the image they’re attempting to project.

I mention this not because it really matters if their sign is true – their overt racism and facism is reason enough for anyone of conscience to avoid their cesspool of a town, and certainly reason enough or anyone of color to avoid it for their safety. But rather, to make the point to anyone who remains open to persuasion that “diversity” is ever the source of any issue whatsoever that there is no such thing as a peaceful bigot.

Hate is an internal poison which has nothing to do with any external factors. Even once they’d manage to scare off or kill all the POC, they just turned to attacking each other instead, because that is what hateful people do. In a town that’s 97% white, I wonder who the fuck they want to blame for their abysmal rape, assault, and theft rates.

you do know fujoshi literally translates to rotten girl right?

And it was coined by misogynists who think that a woman having her own life and interests in romance or sex outside of pleasing men / pleasing her husband makes them rotten and no longer fit for the consumption of said men / husband. It’s a reclaimed term.

Sometimes I wonder if there’s a significant overlap between the dingleberries that absolutely REFUSE to understand why ‘fujoshi’ came to be as a self-descriptor (women tired as hell of being demonized for not being emotionally and/or sexually available to particular men or to men period) and the nitwits who still throw temper-tantrums over ‘sin’ used for fannish content, even when it’s been said again and again that the ‘sin’ doesn’t refer to the nature of the content, but to the gender of the people making and consuming said content (again, a bunch of women reclaiming what would’ve been an accusation hurled against them, with ‘wantonness’ and open sexual desire still being considered ‘sinful’ in women).

Personally, I could be wrong on this but I think it’s part and parcel of this weird… intense aggression against reclaiming slurs and insults.

When I was a young kinky queer people proudly called themselves perverts, dykes, leatherdykes, bykes (you never see that one any more!), queers, etc. There was a lot of tongue in cheek “I’m a monster, woo scaaaaary!” sorts of… taking pride in being something other people didn’t understand, or even feared.

Nowadays anyone who does any of that is dismissed not just as “an edge lord” but assumed to either be appropriating or self hating.

It’s really weird to me, because that particular way of responding to insults has pretty much existed as long as there have been humans.

“[Benjamin Lay] first began advocating for the abolition of slavery when, in Barbados, he saw an enslaved man commit suicide rather than be hit again by his owner. His passionate enmity of slavery was partially fueled by his Quaker beliefs. Lay made several dramatic demonstrations against the practice. He once stood outside a Quaker meeting in winter with no coat and at least one foot bare and in the snow. When passersby expressed concern for his health, he said that slaves were made to work outdoors in winter dressed as he was. On another occasion, he kidnapped the child of slaveholders temporarily, to show them how Africans felt when their relatives were sold overseas. The most notable act occurred in Burlington, New Jersey, at the 1738 Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of Quakers. Dressed as a soldier, he concluded a diatribe against slavery, quoting the Bible saying that all men should be equal under God, by plunging a sword into a Bible containing a bladder of blood-red pokeberry juice, which spattered over those nearby.“

hell yes

“On another occasion, he kidnapped the child of slaveholders temporarily, to show them how Africans felt when their relatives were sold overseas.”

direct action

broke: complain about slavery

woke: kidnap people into slavery as object lesson that slavery is bad

I think it’s important to remember white abolitionists because they serve as proof that slavery was as reprehensible then as it is today. A lot of people excuse slavers as “products of their time” and saying that things were “different back then”. People like Benjamin Lay show that the atrocities of slavery were just as obviously morally repugnant even to white men with no personal stake in enslavement then as they are now. If Mr. Lay can sympathize with the oppressed then Mr. Jefferson has no excuses.

Okay then I’ll make a post so as not to derail:

I do not like “punching up.” Whatever you mean, I mean that full stop. I do not think punches are as easy to aim as you do.

I think it is generally a distraction tactic: if we spend all our outrage on laughing at cishit fashion sense or whatever the hellfuck of the week is, by the time the powerful cishits in the government do something like take away our rights we’re sad and tired.

I discourage you from mocking people with scrupulosity issues who want to help because not only is hurting them bullshit, but some of the energy you could spend fighting back is used up on attacking vulnerable people who may well be just as oppressed as you but who also happen to be cis or straight.

I do not know what op means when they talk about worrying about our image so they may mean something else…

But If *you* think that’s me worrying about “my image” you have the mental acuity of a pulverized cactus.

Usually I think this kind of reaction shows conspiratorial thinking, but this time… holy shit! Check out the totally bizarre inclusion of 88 in the text of the last bullet point. I’m pretty sure whoever wrote this press release is a committed white supremacist

Holy shit, I didn’t even notice that!

At first when I skimmed the post I thought it said “out of 100, 88 will…” so I thought maybe it was a distinctly creepy-ass coincidence.

But “out of 88?” What in the sam cheesing hellfuck?!

Ah. I see you dont actually know what the fuck gaming is and have no understanding of the concept. Are you 50 or a feminist?

okay, no. this is fucking misinformation.

there are more female pc gamers than male gamers (it’s like 50.2%) and around half of those female gamers consider themselves to be ‘hardcore gamers’. At least 6% of women in the US consider themselves to be gamers (compared to 33% of men), and many more women play video games without calling themselves gamers.

black and hispanic kids spend more time on average playing video games than white kids. in fact depending on what research and what game you look at the majority of the video game player base are black and hispanic kids and teenagers.

i couldn’t find statistics on how many lgbt+ people play video games compared to the general population, but it’s enough to support a cottage industry of gay dating sims. Also, there are at least a handful of prominent indie devs who are openly queer and speak out about homophobia in the gaming industry.

unless you’re claiming that every single one of these people hates women and minorities- that every single female gamer is boiling in internalised misogyny, that every single POC gamer is boiling in internalised racism and antiblackness, that every single lgbt+ gamer is boiling in internalised homophobia- then the people who call themselves ‘gamers’ are not gamers because they hate women and minorities. they’re gamers because … they like playing video games.

The people who hate women and minorities are a relatively small proportion of loud assholes. They are not the biggest part of the gaming community. They like to claim they are the majority, because they’re assholes and assholes want to be the centre of attention now and forever. but they’re not the majority; we are.

racist, sexist, bigoted assholes do not get to take our nice things. assholes do not get to steal the stuff we like and say that only assholes can use it, whether it’s death metal, norse mythology, or the word ‘gamer’. period. end of story.

every time you spread this shit around- every time you play like cishet white boy assholes are the majority of gamers- you are letting them win. you are letting them take something good and twist it into something shitty.

is that really what you want?

The people who post images like that with real sincerity are rarer than those who do it tongue-in-cheek (I’ve posted the second one myself on occassion). The people who really take that shit at face value, who believe Gamergate had a significant impact on the 2016 election and who constantly try to kick the wasp nest then complain when they get any sort of reply, they’re a lost cause. The Chus and the MovieBobs and the like live in their own little world and no amount of pleas on how they’re erasing minorities are going to reach them.

So you just agree with them. You loudly proclaim you’re every -ism under the sun, you do seven different forms of misogyny before breakfast, any progressive things you say is only uttered to get laid, and you’re secretly asking for feet pics from every girl gamer you encounter, calling them a casual if they don’t provide. Pretend to be a straight cis white man while proclaiming this, even if the rest of your feed and your bio clearly give away you aren’t. Lay it on so thick that only the most clueless of tools won’t get it. It’s heaps of fun.

Doesn’t this depend, though?

I mean I don’t think every young dude who screams faggots on his mike actually hates gay people. Odds are higher he just loves naughty words.

But listening to people like him can still get tiring.

Yeah. ‘Heaps of fun’ is great and all, but it’s probably not so good for people who aren’t ‘in on it’ trying to play. I know a fair few girls who’ve had to quit certain games because of the abuse they were getting, not heaps of fun for them, was it?

I mean, you can’t really criticise people for saying a group is racist or sexist when you, a member of that group, are pretending to be racist and sexist. That’s why they think that. It’s also why racist and sexist people are perfectly comfortable and safe there, ‘cause as far as they know lots of people have the same beliefs and ideologies as them. You doing this ironically actually makes things worse.

The jobs are not ‘taken’. Why not use the appropriate verb: the jobs are ‘given’ by businesses to those who will do tough and demanding labor.

Those hard workers are almost always immigrants.

There are plenty of Americans who do “tough and demanding” labor, though.

The phrasing you’re looking for is “people who will work under conditions that wouldn’t be tolerated by “legal” citizens (because they inevitably violate a number of rights and laws that we take for granted,) but who won’t complain or go to the authorities because THEY would be the ones getting arrested and punished, rather than their abusive employers.”
