Boozhoo (hello), my name is Ken, I am a disabled Ojibwe artist from northern Wisconsin. I am writing this post because I am having a hard time making ends meet and any donations I could possibly receive at this time would be greatly appreciated. Recent events have left my bank account depleted and my cupboards bare, I have some food but it will not last and I still do not know how I will cover all the utility bills.

I do have PayPal, that is really the best way to donate at this time, the email I use for that is: baapimakwa@gmail.com, or you can click here.

So my cousin and his wife have just had a brand new baby, Cooper, and he is really sick. He’s been in the NICU having seizures almost constantly since he was born last week and he was only able to start breathing on his own today, he has club feet that need surgery and a chromosome disorder that they haven’t identified yet. They’ll get the results for the chromosome disorder in a couple weeks, and for now he has an IV going into his head with anti-seizure medication.

The thing is, my cousin and his wife had absolutely no warning that anything was wrong and they were flown off the island to the children’s hospital on the mainland and my cousin thinks he’s lost his job from having to miss work, and they’re really struggling to support themselves away from home and even at home they are going to need a lot of stuff to support their new special needs baby.

If you can donate even a few dollars to help them survive this nightmare and look after baby Cooper I would be eternally grateful (and so will they!) He has had a really rough start to life and if you can help make it a little easier it would mean the world to me.

This is their Gofundme

Please boost this if you can!

So, I forgot to include this, but Cooper also has a cleft in his lower back. It’s not spina bifida because his spinal column did seal and he can move his legs a little bit, but they aren’t sure what exactly the ramifications of it are yet. 😦

Any amount is greatly appreciated! Even a couple dollars will help them meet their goal!

Thank you so so much!

Ai, shé:kon!

My name is Akinasi Partridge, and along with my brother Isaac, we are trying to raise money to allow us to attend this year’s Riddu Riddu Indigenous arts festival (July 12-16, 2017) in Northern Norway, as Indigenous ambassadors representing Canada in the festival’s youth program.

This program hosts indigenous youth from countries around the world for several days of cultural and artistic exchange, providing a dynamic and culturally rich environment in which Indigenous youth alike can share knowledge about their traditions, life experiences and engage in activities and workshops related to Indigenous cultures, arts, and politics.

As mixed Inuk and Mohawk peoples, we look forward to meeting other Indigenous youth and sharing our unique perspectives on life within the juxtaposition of these Indigenous identities. We hope to bring awareness and provide insight of our respective cultures through open dialogue on Indigenous sovereignty and decolonization, and demonstrating traditional cultural practices such as Inuit throat singing and drumming/dancing.

The festival has offered to cover a portion of our travel costs as youth ambassadors, from Montreal to Tromso, Norway, and we are fundraising to cover the rest of the airfare and other travel costs. We are excited and hopeful to be able to attend this life-affirming event, an opportunity for Indigenous youth like us to demonstrate and represent ourselves in a context specifically created for us.

This experience will provide us with the opportunity to engage in Indigenous cultural empowerment and learning, as it highlights and celebrates the diversity and resilience of Indigenous peoples all over the world through the arts.

Please share and donate if you can, and keep sharing, our festival date is coming up and we’d need to travel by the 10th of July at the latest! For more info on it, visit their website here: http://riddu.no/en

You can also donate via e-transfer at: akinasi.p@gmail.com

Thank you for your support. Nakurmiik.

Please share, reblog, signal boost and DONATE if you can! This is happening in less than two weeks!
