@ajax-daughter-of-telamon – It’s periodically been dumping mine on mobile the whole time. I guess that’s newer behavior on desktop though? If so, the timing does sound kind of suspicious.

@katisconfused – That really sucks And I can totally understand why you wouldn’t want to end up in that kind of situation.
Honestly, just watching that up close once had a whole lot to do with my never planning on getting married. And then only really doing it to satisfy immigration. (To somebody else who hadn’t planned on it either š)
That has at least lasted longer than my parents’ did already, but I still get nervous about the idea of things turning ugly. No signs of that so far, but yeah. It’s hard not to worry sometimes.
(Partly because I can relate so much to the “best chance of survival” part, tbqh. It also really sucks that this is the case for so many disabled people in particular. Nobody should have to be that dependent even if it didn’t tend to encourage some bad dynamics. But, preaching to the choir here.)

@natalunasans – Ugh, that sounds like a great experience. Glad it sounds like he was OK, though. If probably way more shook than he needed to be starting the day off šµ
But yeah, I took after him with coloring. Probably also helped things go better than they could have, once they saw a baby in the back seat–and they were fine with the explanation. He also knew most of the cops, having been with the fire department until I was born. (And my mom was afraid he might get himself killed, after a couple of hospital stays already.)
That was also the same city where people out in public kept assuming any lighter random stranger nearby must be my Real Mother. Maybe an extra good thing I did turn out looking like him as a kid, if we were going to get pulled over like that.

@isabelknight – Seriously though. For a lot of purposes, it’s about the safest option besides very effective. For laundry/stains and some other cleaning, I generally use the Oxy Clean type products (also peroxide action). But that’s not great to put on skin/in your mouth, much less for dogs šØ
Another thing I was surprised to have trouble finding before, and started ordering: citric acid. Also mostly for cleaning and removing lime deposits without other added ingredients I might be allergic to. Not a lot of home canning going on here, and apparently it can be used to make crappy heroin dissolve in water better. (Had to look up the specifics, but remembered it was something to do with drugs.)
At least it’s much easier to find bigger bags online now that people are using it more for bath bombs and similar. But, getting all weird about something as basic as citric acid because somebody might use it with heroin still seems a tad excessive.

@autistiqueer – Not really, itās in the mid 50s right now. But, that was mostly snark.
I shouldnāt be contagious anymore, but the kind of asthma cough I get triggered by viruses does tend to attract some dirty looks here like Iām purposely trying to spread TB or something. Was getting some of those on the bus.
I was just staying in as much as possible while it probably was still contagious, especially since this crud has felt like some strain of the flu. Not just because I didnāt feel like going anywhere, but not to spread germs if I could help it.

@ajax-daughter-of-telamon – Also sounding pretty relatable, tbh š

@qr-sa – Taking a quick look at more info to try and come up with a better description than I could off the top of my head? It sounds like maybe the Asian varieties that need to get āspoon out the insidesā soft before theyāre ready to eat might not be nearly as different as the type Iāve tried before.
The only variety Iāve tried was one of the non-astringent type eaten before theyāre totally ripe and mushy inside. (I think the āSharon Fruitā variety, actually.) Iām guessing thatās what Iāve seen for sale so far because they ship better. Besides the different texture at that stage, the flavor wasnāt nearly as sweet and complex. Which makes sense if it was meant to be eaten not as ripe.
(Almost like the difference between Asian pear varieties and the soft Bosc/Seckel type pears, now that I think about it. I thought maybe the persimmons were all firmer too.)
Now Iām interested in finding some of the other type, which do sound a lot more like American persimmons.

@natalunasans – Sounds like about the same size as my mom, and she always had a lot more trouble finding any decent selection of shoes.
I usually want to add some arch support to Chucks anyway, but thicker type insoles were exactly what I was thinking of it that pair is a little loose š Glad thatās mostly been working for you.
Definitely better to aim for a size up if you’re in between and not sure, IME. Much easier to adjust fit that way..

@ajax-daughter-of-telamon – In US sizes, the 8 men’s would be the equivalent of a 10 women’s. I actually wore a lot of 9.5 when I could find them, because of course I’d need half sizes.
(In UK sizing, the numbers are the same. It’s just often hard to find much women’s selection over a size 6 or so–equivalent of 8 US women’s. Roughly.)

@isabelknight – Thanks! I do appreciate it.
Not nearly as unusual a happening as it should be, but I just get so tired sometimes. Especially with people outside that pub being the most common aggravation for a while now. Iām past there a lot, and of course alcohol is such a great excuse for lovely behavior like that š
If traffic hadnāt been so heavy right then, I probably would have detoured further up the street away from that crossing right at the pub. After seeing that there was only one group of about half a dozen dudes at the outside tables, and no women in the group.
Shouldnāt need to avoid crossing there and walking by the pub, of course. But the predictability left me even madder and more exasperated today.
