One good way to attract fruit flies into your bathroom, of all places: Bandages with manuka honey in the trash! 😧

I felt like a dumbass, taking that long to figure out what might be drawing them in there. (Seeing some congregating around the trash can kinda helped, a little while ago.) But, it’s really not much honey, and I haven’t even been thinking of it as food in that context. ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

Guess I’ll try closing that up well in plastic bags, besides making sure it’s emptied more often for a while.

Quick question wtf is wrong with people who go on posts where someone’s upset about how they’ve had their life ruined by medical bills/lack of access to care they need to be like ā€œwow that’s terrible 😦 in my country šŸ™‚ that’s free/super cheap šŸ™‚ and it’s easy to access šŸ™‚ I don’t get why ur country keeps picking such shitty laws :)ā€

Like how did your parents raise you thinking that’s in any damn way appropriate

if a teenager is at your door and they are wearing a costume!! please give them candy!! they are still in it for the halloween spirit and it honestly no different from a little kid in a costume. they are just as excited and happy as all the other lil tykes and dont you dare tell them they are ā€œtoo old for trick-or-treatingā€ because that will literally break their hearts and that’s not cool.

Its getting close to Halloween again so I just thought I’d reblog this again

And ifĀ ā€œdon’t be rude to teenagers over a stupid jawbreakerā€ isn’t enough for you, considerĀ

  • You can’t tell how old a kid is just by looking. I’ve known multiple 5th graders who were taller than I am, and I’m 25 years old. With their faces hidden by masks, you won’t be able to tell they’re elementary schoolers, but they still are.Ā
  • Lots of older siblings are expected to take their younger siblings trick-or-treating, and they only get paid in candy.Ā
  • You don’t know if that teenager is developmentally disabled.Ā
  • You don’t know if that teenager spent most of their childhood in a hospital or sick and has never had the traditional trick-or-treat experience before.
  • You don’t know if this is that teenager’s first Halloween in America, and they just want to experience a piece of American culture.
  • You don’t know if that teenager ever gets candy any other day of the year.Ā
  • You don’t know if that teenager has eaten anything at allĀ today.Ā

And those are just things I can think of off the top of my head.Ā

and even if it is just a bored 16/17 year old out trying to see what free shit they can get. is it really gonna kill you to give them a fun sized milky way from the multipack you bought at poundland? That thing didn’t even cost you 5p, just give the kid the sugar, say ā€œnice costumeā€, and let it go.

Everyone who says ā€œit’s not in the interest of corporations to harm workers and customersā€ hasn’t heard of history or cost benefit analysis. Mass industrial slaughter (companies letting workers die because it’s more expensive to enforce safety standards) has killed thousands. The collapse of the Rana Plaza is an example, and Grenfell tower.

triangle shirtwaist factory as well

The Iroquois Theater fire killed over 600 people due to the theater’s failure to employ basic fire safety precautions to cut costs and make things more convenient for the theater. Same with the Coconut Grove fire, which killed almost 500 people.

(#Also like #do people not cover the industrial revolution? #like man I live in what used to be a factory town #and the worker quality of life was nightmarish #I refuse!! I fucking refuse!!! To die that way #would rather live in a hole in the woods then live through that hell!)

The Bather

Tried for a twist on the classic art history trope of the bather šŸ™‚

All the people in the notes, though, going ā€œBut why doesn’t she have more body hair?ā€

I dunno, folks, some women just don’t! Some women actually do have a lot but it’s not highly visible against their skin tone! I’m not one of ā€˜em, but they exist! And of course, some women shave, and that’s actually okay. Maybe she swims!

ā€œBut why isn’t she this? Why isn’t she that? Why why why why doesn’t she look more like I think she should?ā€

Because you didn’t paint her and she’s not yours. I don’t know who she is or what her story is but she doesn’t owe it to you to have more body hair for whatever reason you think she should.

lesbians don’t need condoms in their bedside tables. they need hair ties.

I mean condoms are so good for women to have safe sex with. You can put your fingers in them for safe fingering or you can turn them into dental dams for safe eating, or you can put them on a dildo to prevent the spreading of germs as long as you put a new one on for every person and orifice. Also trans women exist. Safe sex is important y’all.

The idea that lesbians don’t need condoms is such a dangerous mindset like please know this is not a thing whether or not you’re lesbianĀ

what are the hairties for

you can shoot them at bitches who don’t bring condoms

Just going to add how Condoms are not just good for fingering and cleanliness of your dildos but also a cheap and easy way to make dental dams for when you’re giving head!

I mean, I had a fair few teachers who never should have been dealing with kids. Nurses too, with sick people (especially kids). But, they had been pushed into those fields as the main options even open to them at the time. No matter how badly suited they were to the job.

Which, of course, never should have happened, and other people should not have been subjected to the results.

Younger people who do have more career options? That’s not even a factor, which makes it even worse in some ways.

They’re hiring people at Pre-apprentice level here for jobs like steelworker, welder, machinist, carpenter, and various other jobs in the ā€œvocationalā€ fields.

All these blue collar jobs prove have sneered at are in demand and pay well because there’s so little new blood and the old hands are aging out and enjoying a comfortable retirement.

if I don’t succeed in law, I know what I’m doing.

I’m a fast learner and have good hands.

My dad’s been fighting with the local public schools for years about the way they degrade vocational fields, and he’s also been working with the local vocational school for a very long time, allowing the welding students to come into the shop during training and sometimes hiring them when they graduate.

Mike Rowe has been advocating for blue collar workers for years. He has a foundation set up to help spread awareness and connect people with training programs, and he’s gone before Congress pleading the importance of these jobs.

This is important work. These are the jobs that keep our society running. And they are in desperate need of more hands.

Degrees suffer inflation and vocations suffer underemployment. Boosting the amount of people going vocational will also help those with degrees because it can fight that inflation.

Instead of ā€œthese job fields have too many open spots while these have so many applicants you now need a Master’s for stuff that used to take a Bachelor’sā€ it could be an actually healthy job market.

I know so many people with useless degrees and a shit ton of student loan debt and now there are signs up everywhere just begging people to become electricians and I’m so pissed off.

any time someone brings this up all i can think of is how many of these places

A- are advertizing they need people with 5 year experinence but will pay 8 an hour

B- have decided that instead of actually hiring anyone will have a continual rotation of people from staffing agencies and let them go after 3 months to avoid giving benefits

C- they pay 14 an hour yet mysteriously most employees quit in under five months due to either the danger of the job, the insane demand/difficulty of the job, or an actively hostile workplace

D- tie your earnings to completely unreasonable demands specifically so they can claim compedetive pay but not have to deliver on it as you are penalized as a worker for failing to meet impossible goals

ive worked at all of those, ive nearly lost both my index fingers, my left foot, and my left eye- which is why i wanted out of ā€˜tool and die’ shops

a big part of blue collar jobs going unfilled is the fault of the blue collar industry being abusive, taking advantage of its workers, and feigning ignorance as to why people are afraid to risk their limbs for the same income as a gas station attendant.

by all means tear down the assumption that a blue collar job cant be good, fulfilling, useful to society, or a bad career move. however after tearing down that assumption you have to also fix the environment of abused workers who wished they had taken a different career path instead of what they just spent 30 years wasting their life on to end up living in a shitty home unable to pursue any dreams that dont involve beer
