You reblogged a man saying “prick a terf and a fascist bleeds” and you’ve called women terfs before, how is comparing feminists to fascists even remotely okay?

Actually the person I quoted is trans and identifies as they or she/her. They were saying and gave extensive evidence and direct quotes that a lot of TERF’s were actually using material posted by a fascist to further their anti-trans agenda. So yeah these feminists may not be fascists but they are using fascist propaganda, which is almost as bad.

There’s no point arguing with TERF’s when they just make up crap like this.

Hello, hi, yes, I’m a feminist and cis, and here goes: if you prick a TERF a fascist bleeds.

Is this acceptable for you anon???

I saw some posts a while back proposing a solution to this seeming conflict of ‘comparing feminists to fascists’.

We shouldn’t be calling them TERFs.  We shouldn’t be validating their supposed feminism even to that degree, because they aren’t actually feminists.

They are Feminist-Appropriating Reactionary Transphobes.  Which comes with the convenient acronym of FART.

The problem is, they are actually feminists. Feminism has a very, very long and troubled history when it comes to The Trans Question ™. You can easily trace a direct line of heritage from early lesbian feminist activism to modern TERFs. I can show you very prominent feminists, historically and today, who have said some positively vile shit about trans women.

And as a trans woman and the one who caused this entire round of TERF bullshit, I for one would far rather see feminists acknowledging and owning that history and working to correct it than trying to sidestep the issue by playing No True Scotsman.

rememberwhenyoutried:

The UK radfems who make up the numerous TERF organisations we’ve been recently gifted with literally never do anything useful for women. They manufacture anti-trans content all the time and do nothing else; it is literally the entirety of their online presence and their “activism”. They are manifestly uninterested in anything that feminists are usually expected to be interested in, unless it gives them an angle to manufacture more anti-transgender propaganda.

It’s worth noting, while I’m here, that no journalist interviewing these people or mining them for content is “falling for it”. They are well aware that these people conduct no feminist activism and have horribly biased viewpoints; that’s why they are routinely interviewed and quoted and sourced. Either the journalist in question shares their views – in which case the TERF organisations are providing a useful service for a journalist who wants to pretend their bigotry is somehow objective because they can find similarly horrible people to quote – or they are too lazy/careless to engage in anything other than the most debased form of point-counterpoint journalism, where you get a quote from a person who exists and another quote from someone who wants the first person dead and, boom, you’ve got yourself a “debate”.

Remember the TERF group that
spent £40,000 on a full page ad attacking trans rights in the Metro newspaper, which was apparently funded by US-based conservative Christian groups?

Now they’re boasting on fb about encouraging random men and “gangs of lads” to commit violence against trans women.

TERFs will claim in one breath to be against male violence, while with the other they incite this very same violence against the women they hate.

handing out propaganda to men and encouraging them to enact violence upon already oppressed people in order to supposedly “protect their wives and children”… not like that’s such a common and exclusive tactic of reactionary hate groups that it’s a hallmark of fascist organising or anything 😬

TERFs aren’t just silly internet weirdos with regressive beliefs; they’re a hate group with a very clear mission statement in removing trans people totally from the public sphere if not eradicating them entirely. Their politics are inherently violent and they will seek to enact that violence whenever they get the chance.

It’s not just internet discourse. This shit has a bodycount and they’re looking to increase it.

THERE’S STILL TIME TO HELP. The UK government’s consultation on trans and genderqueer rights is online and closing at 11pm Friday 19 October 2018. You can fill in the whole consultation here or Stonewall’s shorter version here.

“protect our children” Hey assholes, the people you are encouraging violence against ARE your children. Attacking your children and claiming you are doing it in order to protect them is really fucked up.

Holy fuck. Holy FUCKING SHIT.

This study recruited directly from 4th/wave/now.

ie, the Fake Goth’s latest fucking transphobic attack platform, designed to convince the world that those eeeeevil trannies and Big Pharma are just tricking poor autistic lesbians into thinking they’re boys.

This is literal TERF propaganda.

And of course transmeds trot it out as “proof” that we need more gatekeeping.

@transmed-spidey

The study only used second-hand accounts of the children’s experiences. They gave parents a survey about the relationship and perceptions they had with/of their child.

The study is full of leading questions, assumptions and errors even with what was collected. It was supposed to be about trans youth and one of the premises of the whole thing was that kids were getting their ideas of being transgender from online sources. But again, the study ONLY asked questions of the parents so what you have is best guesses from the parents. Which… isn’t really relevant if you are studying the experiences of trans youth.

The study never collects data from the youth themselves. “Youth” in this case being folks ranging from 11-27, so many of them are young adults who could have been asked directly. But the subjects of the study, that is trans youth, are treated as though they have no autonomy and as unreliable sources of information themselves.

It’s a bad study being rejected for bad practices. While the topic itself is one of those hot button issues, it’s not being rejected because it is a taboo or “not politically correct” topic it is being rejected because it is bad science.

Like freshman failing first year statistics bad science.

maybe they should try gatekeeping the fucking SCIENTIFIC METHOD for a while

This week I had a lovely conversation with an older dyke who reminded me how much a lot of people have always hated TERFs and SWERFs.

She was talking about the time in the 1970s and 1980s when she was a young radical dyke and how many of the awesome dykes in the radical scene were trans women. So I asked her if there was ever any problem with TERFs and SWERFs. She didn’t know those words so I described them. Her reply was (paraphrasing a longer conversation):

“Oh, you mean the political lesbians? That’s what we called them at the time, no one really considered them radical. They hated everyone. They hated bisexual women who dated men. They hated us leather dykes and kinky dykes because they thought we were ‘copying the patriarchy’, they hated trans women. None of us in the radical scene liked them. A lot of them later left and admitted that they were straight but were presured to identify as lesbians in that group because being a feminist to them meant cutting all ties with men. They were like a cult. They often lived together and if you didn’t walk the political line you were dead to them. Intense stuff.

And like, I know her memories don’t have global relevance and there have also been places where TERFs had a much more prominent impact on the local radical women’s community, but still, to hear how despised these TERFs have always been by these truly radical dykes cheered me up a lot.

You mean to tell me, that hating TERFs is literally lesbian culture?

Jup, and actually it has been since TERFs first got started.

TERFs began to colonize the RadFem identity as early as 1973 at Radical Feminism’s biggest event: the West Coast Lesbian Conference. The conference was specifically trans-inclusive, but TERFs disrupted the event, demanding that trans attendees be removed. TERF icon Robin Morgan incited violence by telling the TERFs to “deal with” a trans women who was known to be in attendance.

When a group of TERFs tried to physically assault the trans woman, Radical Feminists stepped in to protect the trans woman. Instead of beating the trans woman, the TERFs instead beat the Radical Feminists. After the TERF violence, the conference still voted to remain a trans inclusive space, but the trans woman left the conference

voluntarily to avoid further TERF violence and disruption to the conference.

Perhaps the most iconic Radical Feminist institution was the Lesbian Separatist music collective, Olivia Records. This collective is largely responsible for the rise of women’s music movement of the 1970s. The Collective was trans-inclusive and even helped trans women access trans medical care. TERF icon, Janice Raymond discovered this and began a campaign against Olivia and the trans member of the Collective. This resulted in numerous death threats to the Radical Feminist members of the collective and credible armed death threats against the trans woman. Moreover, TERFs threatened to financially destroy Olivia Records for being trans inclusive with a boycott.

Even though Olivia voted to remain a trans-inclusive space, the trans woman left the Collective to avoid further TERF violence and disruption to the Collective.

[…]

Most of the media coverage around the MWMF casts this as a RadFem/Lesbian/Woman vs Trans issue. It’s not. The MWMF has come to represent a more nuanced struggle between TERFs who target both Radical Feminists and trans people in the name of Radical Feminism. The evidence reveals that almost from the start, the chances were that “there is still a better than 999 in 1000 chance that most Festigoers would welcome trans women”.

Moreover, the evidence reveals that the most iconic Radical Feminist institutions were designed to be trans-inclusive, until TERF violence forced trans people to choose between their own safety, the safety of Radical Feminists, the institution itself and leaving the space. As has always been, TERF aggression comes wrapped in the guise of Radical Feminism, for the purpose of colonizing Radical Feminism.

God apparently a group of anti trans activists are leading london pride because of a hijack and the people shouting at them and telling them to fuck off are the ones almost being arrested and told to move on by the police. Fuck cops. They don’t belong at pride and they don’t make the people who do feel safe.

Since I haven’t seen any posts about this apart from a handful of British people I follow on Twitter, a group of TERFs were allowed to lead London pride today. Here is a link to the PinkNews article detailing the events. They somehow managed to get to the front of the parade, ahead of the London mayor Sadiq Khan and lead for around 5 to 10 minutes, before stopping and lying down in the road refusing to move and disrupting the parade as the directors tried to negotiate again. They were then allowed to lead the parade without security or the parade directors stopping them. When trans people in the crowd protested their presence they were approached by the police marching with the group and told to stop or they would be asked to leave.

This is not pride, this is not a place where people can feel safe and this is not a place cops should be allowed to threaten trans people to defend transphobia.

OH LOOK- police presence at pride proves itself a 100% bad thing, and TERFs continue to be fucking attention-seeking, hateful children without the good grace to mind their own fucking business. The city should be ashamed.

This is their new thing. $5,000 says that they’re also circulating lies about being attacked by trans people there or something, because that’s the shit they pulled at SF Dyke March last month.

https://medium.com/@kittystryker/terfs-are-the-incels-of-feminism-cee265da53f8

There, about 12 of them, with signs, were aggressively yelling things like “trans go home” at the marchers.

Some of the marchers evidently tried to rip the signs out of their hands, chanting “hey hey, ho ho, transphobia’s got to go.” The TERFs responded by shoving them away.

One of the TERFs (Vanessa) tripped and fell. Another (Mitzi) then claimed that Vanessa had been pushed over, and that she herself had been knocked to the ground three times, and that they had video of all that.

Her footage has never surfaced or been corroborated by bystanders, but there IS footage of her trying to beat people with her friend’s cane. And of the March organizers trying to stop her from beating people with the cane.

Evidently, she then hit and choked a trans women from the march. The police arrived, and even though Dyke March staff had told the TERFs to leave, and bystanders tried to show the police footage of the TERFs attacking people, the police basically gave the TERFs an escort for the rest of the march.

They, of course, have now been very vocal about claiming to have been violently attacked, and having done nothing. They’re even claiming to have been doxxed, when what actually happened was that one of the TERFs “doxxed” them all by posting publicly about it, on Facebook, and tagging the rest of them. 🙄

(In the same public Facebook post, she apologizes to another TERF, Max, for “initially swinging at you when you came to my defense,” which doesn’t do much for her attempts to claim that they were the ones being attacked.)

This mirrors a TERF attack from last year, where one physically attacked a trans woman in a bar, and then made a huge public stink claiming that the trans woman had attacked HER – despite video evidence to the contrary.

This is their new big thing: constantly trying to convince people that calling them TERFs, or opposing them in general, “promotes violence against women.” By repeatedly attacking trans women, rallying people against anti-TERF displays, and trying to take over community events, et cetera.

you all need to think very fucking carefully about repeating this “queer is a slur” horseshit, because it serves a very particular purpose that is definitely not in the interest of the vast majority of the queer (gasp!) community.

“Hey, remember a year ago, when folx decided out of nowhere ‘queer’ was a slur again, despite its ubiquitous decades long use in academia and advocacy groups, and thens creamed at trans ppl who told them this was TERF rhetoric they were repeating?”

Beneath is picture of an outdoor protest with partial text that reads: “So they’re allowing a group of TERFS to star…”“I’m referring to the “lesbian, not queer” sign there)

“This rhetoric was used against a local queer and trans center in the US that I am close to; it’s pretty blatant and common! It’s so upsetting to see grooming from hate groups work because people want to yell at girls so much.“

"They spread this because they think ‘queer’ is too nonspecific and thus, of course, much more inclusive of people they don’t think belong, like trans folx, especially trans women. Trying to rebrand it as a slur is to make it feel toxic to too without questioning why.”]
