This is what I’m here for. Not only do we need men supporting women who come out about sexual abuse but we really need men supporting other men when they come forward about these stories. Like not only am I happy that Brendan came forward but I’m so proud of Terry for voicing his support of Brendan. This is huge.

Back in 2003 he got sexually assaulted by the former president of the
Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This was during the year “Looney Tunes: Back in Action” came out just to ruin that movie for everyone but nobody would listen to him.
I caught a germ, this week, when I bought something from my local pharmacy (just like the doctor’s office, that place is full of ‘em). So I’m a little brain-foggy.
But somewhere around Tumblr, I saw a link to an article about how this may be the real reason older actresses’ careers suddenly dry up. It’s not just the “aesthetic” of the young ingenue, but it’s that, as women mature, they’re less willing to put up with sexual harassment, and the “casting couch,” and get labeled a “Bad team player.”
I suggest we keep that in mind whenever any really talented rising star disappears off the radar. Instead of asking: “Were they a flash-in-the pan?’ We should ask: “Has an abuser pushed them out of the business?“
Also: Brendan Fraser was set to play Superman? That’s the Clark Kent I want to see.

Crews: …you only have a few shots at success. You only have a few chances to make yourself a viable member of the community. I’m from Flint, Michigan. I have seen many many young black men who were provoked into violence, and they were imprisoned, or they were killed, and they’re not here. My wife for years prepared me. She said, “If you ever get goaded, if you ever get prodded, if you ever have anyone try to push you into any kind of situation, don’t do it. Don’t be violent.” And she trained me. I’ll be honest with you it was the strength of my wife who trained me and told me, “If this situation happens, let’s leave.” And the training worked because I did not go into my first reaction, I grabbed her hand, we left, but the next day I went right to the agency. I have texts, I have phone conversations, and I said, “This is unacceptable!” And I told them how -you know- I almost got violent, but I didn’t. And I said, “What are you going to do about this predator that you have roaming your hallways?” And -you know- I was told, “We are going to do everything in our power. We are going to handle this Terry. You’re right. It is unacceptable.” And then they disappeared. Nothing happened.

This is real fucking infuriating. This shit isn’t funny. Fuck them and anyone who makes fun of Terry Crews speaking out and taking a stand.
for those who don’t know the context, this is Terry Crews testifying about being sexually assaulted by Adam Venit during a Senate hearing about a proposed bill called the Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights. While I don’t like that Senator Feinstein said what she said, I think it opened the door for a great statement from Terry about WHY he didn’t fight back – since so many people respond to male victims with “oh well you’re bigger than your rapist, why didn’t you push him or her off of you? why didn’t you punch him or her? did you want it or something?” And they don’t listen. Maybe finally people will listen.
This shows that anyone can be a victim of sexual assault, even a tall, strong, hulking guy like Terry Crews. And I hope him coming forward with his accusations convinces other victims to realize that it being a victim isn’t something to be ashamed of and to take down their attackers, and push the justice system to FINALLY take male rape and assault seriously.

Terry Crews said he was threatened with retaliation for speaking out about a sexual assault by a Hollywood agent, saying the producer of The Expendables 4 warned of vague “troubles” unless he withdraws his civil suit.
In testimony this morning before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Crews said Expendables producer Avi Lerner called his manager and asked that the actor to drop his case against Adam Venit in order to appear in the fourth installment of the action film.
Asked By Sen. Amy Klobuchar asked Crews if he has a role in the sequel.
“No. Simply because this same producer is under his own … investigation,” said Crews. “Abusers protect abusers — and this is one thing I had to decide, whether I was going to draw the line on. Am I going to be a part of this or am I gonna take a stand, and there are projects I had to turn down.”
Crews was one of three people called to testify at a hearing about the
Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights, which provides new rights for
victims of sexual violence in the federal criminal code. The committee
was reviewing the implementation of that law, which was enacted two
years ago.
