I suspect at least some percentage of shitty cultural appropriation discourse comes from white people who now have a “progressive” sounding explanation for feeling anxious about interacting with people from different (especially non-white/western/Christian) ethnic groups and cultures (and of course it gets egged on by the internet’s performative wokeness moral purity bullshit contest).
Like this, but unironically:
Personal experience can confirm something like this. I had people get real uncomfortable when I’d talk about my experiences in Mexico (ie the majority of my life) and ask me not to bring it up (NOT BRING UP ALMOST ALL MY LIFE EVENTS) like “as a white person, I just don’t understand that stuff and I don’t feel comfortable commenting on a culture I don’t belong to” and be like this about everything non-white.
Unsurprising, but also fucking gross
No thermal socks yet, but obtained today: velcro granny slippers 😅
Not exactly my style, even in the purple. But they did look comfy and enough warmer than what I’ve been wearing around the house to give them a try. (With hard soles too, a definite plus.)
Hoping these will fit, because I actually bought a similar ankle boot type of the same brand last year. Those were just a little too small, and I didn’t have the spoons to try and exchange them. Couldn’t find the higher style in the right size this time either, but hopefully one size up in this slightly different style will do it. Even if they won’t keep my ankles toasty too 😑
A North Carolina cop who shot an unarmed black man in the back is going to jail for at least 19 years.
Michael Slager killed Walter Scott in 2015, while an officer with the
North Charleston Police Department. He was fired after video surfaced
that showed Slager firing at Scott as he fled. It was clear from the
footage that Slager was not in any danger: he just wanted to kill
Scott.
Even then, it took two years and one mistrial to bring him to justice.
I don’t have an exact ideology that my friends and comrades are required to follow. Instead I have an intellectual affinity for people whose ideas are related to and intersecting with my own.
I find that I can get along with market anarchists and socialists, with trots, with individualists, and with DemSoc even though none of these people share my exact ideas.
It’s especially easy to work with people you don’t see eye-to-eye with when you work together on a project that you do agree on. Personally, I would never join a democratic centralist org, but there are a couple of Trots in the local FNB who have been nothing but good and helpful comrades.
My facebook page is a mess though cause all these people start interacting in the comments all the time.
how much do you y’all wanna bet this is a white man
i bet 50 bucks on you being a terf.
I mean, they’re non-binary so it’d be kinda weird (though I guess not unheard of) for them to be a TERF.
Still like, it’s a weird thing to write on this post and also being misgendered like this is tbh the worst.
Which, frankly I would expect another trans person to understand, but I guess not.
What I don’t get is OP is all like, “I can work with anyone as long as it’s a project I can agree on” and this person came to the conclusion that “only a white male would say stuff like this”.
i genuinely hope that everyone in charge of making insulin so insanely expensive in the US gets the guillotine
if you want a great example of capitalistic violence, look no further than these genuinely awful, fucking evil companies making insulin, something that doesnt cost shit to make, charging shit tons of money and the justification is because its required for people to live
