CW Bullying

I meant to do this for anti-bullying week but I didn’t have time.

Please listen to people who are bullied and don’t tell them that their feelings are wrong.

Please don’t save my work and repost it on your own accounts. Thanks

But also fuck the bullies too. You are very much not forgiven.

Just reminded of that time my mom stuck the turkey out on the porch on a fairly warm Christmas morning, hoping to get it thawed the rest of the way in time. Plus out of the way in the busy kitchen. Figured a couple of hours at under room temperature wouldn’t be a problem.

No idea if anyone got food poisoning from that, though, because it wasn’t there when she sent me to bring it back in 🙄

99% sure it was a human that made off with it, too. It was a big wrapped up half-frozen turkey, and it would have taken one hell of a dog to carry that thing away with no trace. The only other thing that ever got stolen from outside there was when some shitty kids took the lawnmower until their mother saw it and made them bring it back, but somebody must have really been desperate for a turkey that year!

Good thing we had a ham too, or that could have been one creative holiday dinner with family coming over. Had to laugh more than anything else, it was just so unexpected.

Working doorbell is now up 👍

I was going to put it on the metal door edge, but the instructions specifically said not to place the button unit near metal which might interfere. Can’t get very far away from it with that door, but I settled for sticking it on the glass and it seems to work fine. Should also be hard to miss there 🙄

Also got the old button covered over again with black electrical tape, since I really didn’t want to unscrew it and mess with wires today. Too dark to see that, even if it had been in frame here.

Here it is: Best stuff first

Extremely handy if you follow a lot of people and hate missing anything good.

Best Stuff First moves the best stuff on your dashboard—mhm!—right up to the top.

It’s rolling out this week on iOS and Android, and comes with this Help Center article.

Thanks! ✌️

Head’s up folks! Tumblr decided to shit the bed and go non-chronological!

This bullshit is being rolled out this week and it’s going to be default!

This is dangerous and manipulative.

The main reasons for these “algorithms” that Instagram, Facebook and Twitter have rolled out are manipulating what people see. Content they want you to see gets pushed to the top, anything threatening to their interests gets quietly tossed to the bottom so you’ll be too tired or bored to see it.

I can see this seriously messing with the livelihood of artists, so please reblog if you can!

This may be part of why I get people saying I don’t come up on their dash anymore. I wouldn’t put it past tumblr to exclude nsfw blogs from this feature.

ya my tumblr has decreased in activity and my posts have been getting way less traction since this feature. lmao it’s already decreased my sales which is super fucking annoying.

@little-miss-la this might be why your sales are lower recently

I was wondering why I saw the same post 12 times throughout the day at the top of my feed!!! I was almost annoyed with the blog until I realized what was going on. Going to fix this now.. if silly me can figure it out.

going to the doctor when you’re chronically ill is weird.

It’s like imagine everything in your house is on fire, and you’re standing there and the fire department come in like, describe the fire to me and maybe we can find what caused it and put it out.

and you can’t just say everything so you’re like… well the fire in the curtain is the biggest
but the fire in the photo albums might be doing the most damage
also the fire in the couch is really inconvenient

occasionally the firemen are like, well your tv is on fire so it might be electronic-fireitus but that would cause other things like fire in the dvd player

and you’re like, oh yes. that’s been on fire for years. I forgot to mention it because it’s always been a relatively small fire. It’s right next to the bookshelf which has much more fire.

and then the firemen are like, oh. i wouldn’t worry about that. book shelf fire just happens sometimes.

😂😂 OMG yes.

“test results say there’s no fire. you’re fine,” they tell you as you suffocate on smoke

I don’t think people have any concept of how complex and costly legal immigration is.

I just went through a legal immigration process, and my husband—a professor with a PhD—had to do hours of research and triple check every form to make sure it was accurate. We had to have multiple photos taken, get fingerprinted, submit packets of paperwork. And then there were the fees, which run into the thousands. Even with our salaries as two people with advanced degrees we could barely have afforded it all on our own (we were fortunate enough to have family who could help us with the cost).

This whole expectation that people in dire straights, especially those from war-torn or poverty-stricken areas, can “do it the right way” when it comes to US immigration is such a complete fallacy, because with all the barriers in place (language barriers, financial barriers, etc.) there’s literally no way most of these people could ever escape the situations they’re in via this route—and if they had those resources, there’s a very good chance they wouldn’t need to leave their homes in the first place.

Immigration is difficult and expensive. It was taxing for us and we were effectively sponsored by a government organisation. Either accept that the process is to immigrate to the US is broken or admit that you think most people should just suffer instead of seeking better lives for themselves and their families.
