Do the people who wrote that letter know or, perhaps the better question is care, that this sounds like blatant, unmasked antisemitism? I think they know and don’t care.
On the plus side, years of abuse made it easy to dissociate and go unresponsive as the cops were prodding and questioning me.
The city’s deposition(?) literally said I stopped replying when the cop asked me why I was vandalizing city property. Which is what you do, because that’s what’s called “fishing for a tacit confession”.
A little-known fact, and a shitty loophole in the legal system that basically proves that it is a conviction assembly line, is that you generally have to specifically invoke your right to remain silent. Silence has actually been used in some cases to indicate guilt. If you are arrested, you don’t have to answer questions or incriminate yourself, but it’s generally a good idea to say something like “I’m choosing to exercise my right to remain silent” or “I will not answer questions and I have no statements to make at this time.” If you’re feeling snarky or pissed, “I don’t talk to police” also works. If you want or need to communicate with them for your safety or to get information or have your needs seen to, you can do that, but you should reiterate your decision to remain silent on circumstances surrounding your questioning if the conversation turns back to that, because there have been instances of people asking for water or to use the bathroom, and then that being used procedurally as an in to get you to incriminate yourself. I’m not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice (because the legal guild of elites will eat your soul if you don’t protect their privileged status by overtly stating that). It’s good, friendly advice, though.
Say that you’re shutting up, ask for a lawyer, and then keep quiet unless you need something important. The only goal is getting out of there safely. The police station is their world and they control it completely. Respect that reality and get free so you can fight on more advantageous terms.
I remember that I actually did say “I don’t want to answer any more questions without talking to a lawyer first.”
