Sending out many good vibes to all those who have to endure emotionally abusive families this Thanksgiving. If they try to hurt you or gaslight you, please tell yourself that it is not you. It is them and their own issues. No matter what they say or do, the abuse was and is not your fault. It will always be theirs. Please lay the fault where it belongs–with the abuser. Also remember to check in with yourself and how you are feeling throughout the day. Give yourself permission to set boundaries, to say no, to leave early or walk away if you get triggered, or to even choose not to spend time with them this Thanksgiving. Let them get angry–that’s their issue. Please take care of yourself and your mental health. You have a right to make yourself a priority. ❤️

Poultry finally achieved, now time to plonk it in the oven!

(Running a little late here, what a surprise… Needs about 2 hours from frozen.)

“Serves 6-8” if you want to be very skinchy with the food. Or, possibly, if they’re little kids. Should be more than enough for us, though, with leftovers.

May not have the energy to put together much of a spread today, but this will have to do. With some mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans of course.

Quick answer to not wanting to wear those new kneewarmers out: pull on some big sweats over everything! 😅 Not sure that looks much better, but it just might get fewer weird looks popping out to the store.

OMG everyone I know the ACTUAL story behind the gif this time!

Yes, it’s in Australia– that’s a big angry goanna that wandered into a popular restaurant. All the Australians in the vicinity went OH FUCK NO and cleared off, because goannas are mean.

The waitress you see there is a French exchange student, who was quoted as saying something to the effect of “I thought it was a weird ugly dog” and had no idea it was a reptile that wanted to rip her arms off. She’s been hailed as a hero who saved diners.

It’s amazing what power “not knowing” has.

The thing I especially love about this is this is a pretty dangerous animal, except she managed to defeat it by just fucking grabbing it by the tail and walking too quickly for it to turn around. Once again the animal kingdom is thwarted because we evolved opposable thumbs, long limbs, and reckless bravery.

weird, ugly dog thwarted by foreign exchange student and polished floors

my take-home lesson here is that nobody in france has ever first-hand seen a dog
