Friday, November 2nd – Hi everyone, I’m Gemma and I’m so sorry to ask this again so soon from my (please help me avoid eviction post) which explains my situation, but I still desperately need help to get groceries + keep my heating and lights on.
At the moment, I have been struggling these past few months to make ends meet and pay off my bills and get groceries due to my welfare benefits (Universal Credit and Housing Benefit) having been revoked under the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. I’ve been struggling horribly to keep my heating on as it’s getting into winter where I live, with most nights being 0°C/ 32°F. And as you can see from the images above of my meters, they are both on their emergency credit and won’t last until my next benefit payment due at the end of November.
I desperately need help to keep my heating on and to get groceries + supplies for November, I’ve just got a few days left of food and I’m trying really hard to ration it. I’m literally freezing, hungry and drowning in debt at the moment because of my sanctions and since this situation has been ongoing for so long, government aid/food banks are unable to offer me any more assistance.
If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life and, sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody has to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling. Thank you for your help 💖
In the back room of a head shop in downtown Montreal, there are boxes stuffed with shirts, lighters, board games, and even colouring books. They’ve all been pulled off the shelves because — even though cannabis is now legal for recreational use in Canada — stores in Quebec aren’t allowed to sell anything with words or images associated with marijuana.
Only the government-run Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) outlets are allowed to sell cannabis in the province, while private retail shops are allowed to sell pot-smoking accessories.
But provincial inspectors have told head shops that selling items that appear to promote cannabis — a shirt with the word “bud” on it, for example — could mean a fine ranging from $2,500 to $62,500.
“We really didn’t think that come legalization day, products that we’ve been selling for the last 30 years would all of a sudden become illegal,” said Christopher Mennillo, vice-president and co-owner of the head shop chain Prohibition.
STOP making posts that say, “If you scroll past this, you have no heart!” or, “You’re a monster if you scroll past this.” As someone with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, this really triggers me and harms me.
As someone else with OCD I wanna chime into say that posts like “reblog or you’ll have your worst week” or “like and reblog or your mom will die” also really trigger me and directly tie into my obsessions. If you MUST reblog them at least tag them as reblog bait! And stop tagging reblog games as reblog bait instead, tag them as reblog games!!! So people can properly blacklist what they do and don’t wanna see because those are both very different!
What people without OCD don’t understand is that even though we know it’s not real, we take those posts seriously, even the “good” ones like “Reblog money cat for money” or something can seriously fuck with our OCD. It leads to horrible panic attacks and giving into compulsions. If you wanna help us out please PLEASE tag reblog bait of all kinds.
