Boozhoo (hello), my name is Ken, I am a disabled Ojibwe artist from northern Wisconsin who has recently relocated to northern Minnesota to be closer to my children and have better access to healthcare. I am writing this post because I am having a hard time making ends meet and any donations I could possibly receive at this time would be greatly appreciated. Recent events have left my bank account depleted and I am still having to help cover the utility bills back home on the reservation for my father who is also disabled.

I think I may have plugged them before, but if you’re ever in Western North Carolina be sure to pop by Firestorm Books & Coffee in Asheville. It’s a worker co-op leftist bookstore and event space with a majority women and LGBTQ staff that’s really involved in the community, including helping get books to prisoners, hosting syringe exchanges and addiction recovery meetings, and much more. They have a great book selection and serve as a really awesome project in the Asheville community and the Southern Applachians region. They’ve been recieving a lot of online harassment from far-right reactionaries recently that’s started to bleed into some small bouts of real, physical harassment.
