all the basic rules are the same like playstyle wise
trash talking is encouraged
you get as much time as you need but if you look away from the board your turn is over
the referee is yelling everything like a sports announcer and you cannot complain
you can take one of your pieces from the board and throw it at your opponents head but you sacrifice that piece
you have to name the king and queen something
fun additives to make the game unique:
a. close your eyes and reach into a bag of about 48 chess pieces to pull out your sixteen pieces. whatever you get is what you play and you must follow the rules of those chess pieces. if you get four queens good luck. if you get no queens good luck
b. the referee can decide to throw in as many checkers pieces as a time as they please, as long as equal pieces are distributed to both players. the players are now not only playing chess but also checkers on the same board.
Since this has gotten so many notes I feel obligated to tell y’all that I’ve never played a game of chess in my life. I don’t. I don’t even know what a rook is.
if wisdom teeth are so Wise then how come theyre up in the gums where no one needs em huh. seems like pretty “Shit Idiot” teeth if you ask my humble opinion
oOOOOooh sooo wise lemme grow sideways like some mothor crap of a shit
I know I haven’t been able to post here recently, so doubt anyone will see this, but me and my partner are in a hard way because of a paint company screwing us over.
It is under four weeks until our baby is due and our house isn’t just a mess but also has a noxuius gas being emitted due to faulty paint we were sold. The companies involved have spent the last 7 weeks now doing hee how to help.
This has left us sealing the walls to no avail, stripping the paint by hand with a hear gun and chisel, replastering the walls, and now the plasterboard seems to be giving off the gas! We don’t know how the problem spreads but we have to try fix this, and if we can’t we need stable accommodation in a familiar area for L, as she needs support and mental reassurance while having the baby.
If anyone can help share this go fund me link it would be greatly appreciated. No worries if folks can’t.
noahfence but 2017 should be the year we start treating melanie martinez like the shit that she is
her music is all about rape, trauma, abuse and glorifying mental illness (especially psychosis) and that’s broadcasted to her audience which is literally just middle school girls
you wouldn’t believe how many girls my age say shit like “ugh im such a psycho!!” or “sorry, im totally insane” thinking its cool. and I know girls have always done this, but it’s so much worst now that a popular artist like melanie perpetuates these ideas in their brains
its so damn toxic. I remember when I had this mentality I literally denied help from ANYONE and its because of artists like melanie martinez
lyrics like “you think im gonna tell the psychiatrist something is wrong” and “all the best people are crazy” shouldn’t be listened to by little girls.
melanie martinez makes shit music and her career belongs in the garbage, bye
l
we arent just gonna ignore that she made the song “tag you’re it” about being a child and being kidnapped and raped by a predator.
I don’t have a Pokemon in this fight- I literally give zero fucks about Melanie Martinez as a musician and I think her Sad Crazy Baby Girl persona is irritating. But… as an artist, I have beef with this.
I’m a PTSD survivor myself. A lot of my work winds up being about stuff that has to do with my trauma, whether I mean it to or not. In my case, the trauma stuff is a lot less Grossly Controversial than child sexual assault, so no one really complains. But it’s still there, it’s still a factor in my work, and taking away my ability to write about it would cripple my recovery and my artistry.
Most artists don’t talk about these things explicitly, because there’s a huge amount of shame and stigma that goes along with having mental illness and dealing with trauma and being a victim. But again: we still gotta work through it somehow, and art is one of the best and least harmful ways to do it.
How do you know she’s not singing about rape, trauma, abuse, being a child victim, and mental illness because she’s had to deal with those things? How do you know she’s not using her ~crazy girl~ persona as a way to express her frustration with a society that treats her like a crazy person and both infantalizes and demonizes her for being a victim?
Unless she comes out and says something? You can’t know. And if you mock any artist who talks about this stuff in a way you don’t approve of, the chances are, you’re mocking and harassing survivors for talking about their trauma. Is that really a thing you want to be doing?
Also, while I’m ranting – you do realize that most teenagers in the USA don’t have access to proper psychological care, right? You realize that the teenagers who need it most are likely to live in poverty or have abusive parents who restrict their access to care? You realize people without access to psych care need some kind of coping mechanism so they can hold themselves together?
I didn’t have access to proper psych care until I got into college. I’m autistic. If I didn’t hold onto the phrase “all the best people are mad” (and a couple other mantras- the Bene Gesserit Litany of Fear is a good one), I would probably not be here to shout at you right now.
Was it toxic? Enh, probably; I could have done without the nerdy-autistic-people-are-superior-to-everyone-else thing I had going on. Did it keep me alive? Hell yes. Did it keep me from becoming even more of a self-loathing wreck? Hell yes.
Until we live in a world where every teenager has access to good, quality mental healthcare? A world where abuse is unspeakably rare and adults don’t write off mentally ill teenagers? Kids and teenagers are going to need ‘toxic’ coping mechanisms, because treating ‘craziness’ like a good thing is better than feeling utterly broken and alone.
TL:DR; You’re hurting the people you want to help. The social norms you want to enforce will make it harder for survivors to talk about their experiences and harder for people without mental health care to survive.
If you are in immediate need of evacuation due to flooding, DO NOT GO INTO YOUR ATTIC. YOU WILL DROWN. Get on your roof and tweet to the @USCoastGuard or call 281-464-4851. 911 is overloaded and cannot take any new calls.
DO. NOT. GO. INTO. YOUR. ATTIC.
If you’re outside of Houston, have a watercraft and want to help, call the coast guard at 281-464-4851. They’ll coordinate rescue efforts with you.
If you’re outside of Houston and want to help, PLEASE consider the 700K animals who died in Katrina and donate to the Humane Society or the SPCA.
Please consider the disabled, the elderly and special needs folks who are most likely unable to get somewhere due to financial or health reasons. PORTLIGHT.ORG is the BEST resource for rescue and assistance in the country.
I’ve been checking in with my Houston friends (and my Buddhist monks) and it’s terrifying. And the rain won’t stop until LABOR DAY.
Please. If you can, help. We’re on our f*cking own as a people. We need to help one another.
DO NOT WASTE TIME WITH THE RED CROSS. Focus on charities that DIRECTLY HELP HOUSTON/SURROUNDING AREAS.
DirectRelief.org is the #1, most reputable charity. Again, PORTLIGHT.ORG is so f*cking crucial, I can’t even stress that enough.
