Hi. I’m the creator of @bukbot and @writingpromptsbot. Both I and my partner @rumpelstiltskinix are disabled, and both our healths are taking a great toll without our car. We live in a small town in upstate New York, and public transportation is abysmal here.

About a month ago, our car was totaled by an icicle falling from our neighbor’s house. The windshield and hood were smashed, and the engine now puts out so much carbon monoxide that we get sick just from standing near it when it’s on. If you’re more of a visual learner, what that looks like is this:

The good news is, the neighbor’s landlord is a millionaire. The bad news is, unsurprisingly, he’s a millionaire by means of stomping on everyone else. He has refused to file a claim with his insurance, claiming it was not his responsibility, even though the high court rulings in New York are explicit and plentiful in holding that it is the property owner’s responsibility to take care of icicles lest they kill someone (which has happened) or in our case, destroy property. To quote one of the court rulings:

“He … is responsible for all damages if the shape of his roof is such as to throw them upon his neighbor’s land, in the same manner as he would be if he threw them there himself.”

Davis v. Niagara Falls Tower Co. 171 N.Y. 336 (1902).

Which is to say, the chances of not getting the money eventually are about the same chances as a judge ruling against a Supreme Court ruling.

Barring catastrophic miscarriage of justice, we will get the money. Just… not any time soon.

We have been dealing with this guy’s devastation of our car since January 11th, 2018. After poisoning ourselves via a carbon monoxide leak driving it to a mechanic’s, we’ve had to walk long distances and limit trips to what few taxis we can afford. Both our healths are on rapid decline from this. One of us has temperature regulation problems and extreme hypoglycemia which isn’t scheduled to be addressed by a doctor until May, and which is made much worse by exercise in the cold; the other has spinal and leg injuries from falling through a ceiling and has to use a cane. Needless to say, walking on ice for miles has been bad news for both of us.

We are desperate. We are hoping to be able to raise $1,500 for a new car, which we can pay back once we finally get the money we are owed. Right now, the guy has 21+ days from when everyone gets the court date (any day now) to resolve it privately (which he most likely won’t; he did not respond to our letter). From there, we’re hoping we can find out what bank he uses from our neighbors for quick disbursement – the total he would be paying is less than 25% of his rental income for one month alone (he also runs an HVAC business).

We also take commissions.

the thing that always comes to me about the concept of Transtrending is … who even Cares? so what if someone turns out to be happier being cis after trying out different pronouns, different ways of thinking about them selfs or their genders? so what? who did they hurt? if a dfab person tries out they pronouns and asks for gender neutral terminology for a couple months and then says “hm, i think i am actually happiest with she pronouns, i am a cis girl” who did she hurt? she didnt hurt any one she just chilled in a different gender zone for a while.

and then what about someone who did try out different pronouns and then ended up saying “wow! this really works for me, i am so much happier with these new pronouns! i am trans!” ? they couldnt have learned that without experimenting

calling all gender exploration transtrending and acting like its some harmful or appropriative thing discourages people from exploring their genders, reinforces ideas about transness being immutable + A Condition, reinforces the idea of rigid gender roles (by saying like. people arent allowed to consider other genders for themselfs in a gentle way / arent allowed to express their gend differently) and makes it way harder to figure out trans stuff bye

One of the handful of cis people I actually trust completely to have my back on trans issues? She’s a cis woman who actually sat down, with a trans friend’s guidance, to interrogate her own gender and actively work out that she is, in fact, cis.

at a cultural level, giving people shit about changing their minds only harms trans people.

so does endlessly reinforcing an unbreachable division between trans and cis. all binaries are fake. nothing alive cares about “either/or.”

the post office really must hate me at this point

live worms

Just wait until your order of 1,500 crickets eats through the box and ends up all over the delivery truck…

…go on

Basically I wasn’t home when they where dropped off, I think I had gone to get gas for the mower or food. I came home and found a large black trash bag on my front porch. It was what remained of my order, I’m guess there was less than 200 crickets. I of course contacted the place I had order them through and got a new shipment scheduled. Fast forward to the new shipment. I was home when the second one was delivered. The driver of course wasn’t happy still and had a million questions. They stopped asking questions once I told them that they had delivered multiple tarantulas and scorpions before this. Ultimately it was pretty anticlimactic minus the evil looks I got every time I got a package via USPS.
