New concept: Stop trying to pass for an ablebodied person.

It’s perfectly okay if you Can pass, of course.

No Shame in Having an Invisible Disability, But:

  • If you’re worried that you’re not passing,
  • If you spend your thoughts and your energy trying to pass,
  • If you blame yourself when you fail to pass,
  • If you don’t speak up when something is bothering you, because you’re afraid of looking weak, or pitiful,
  • If trying to pass hurts,

Stop Trying to Pass for an ablebodied person.

This is one of my early posts. I figure I don’t say it enough.

*waits for some neckbeard to coin the phrase, “earbud-zoned”*

im laughin bc that’s literally 99% of the reason women wear earbuds

He knows it too. That’s why he’s so mad. “You can’t approach a woman with earbuds in her ears.” Followed by “Just be open and receptive to cold approaches!” He’s not pissed bc he had bad luck he’s pissed bc *she chose not to be available to him*. He’s furious with her for the slightest implication of her agency or right to personal space.

There’s this really weird mindset on tumblr where a lot of y’all think that just because someone isn’t systematically oppressed for a certain aspect of themself or their life that it means it’s 100% okay to mock or even harass them over it. I don’t even know how many posts I’ve seen where someone has been called out on this and responded with, “um sweatie no one is oppressed for [thing] :)” like

that doesn’t matter, pals?

Bullying people over non-harmful things they are or do is still shitty even if they don’t face oppression specifically for those things. It’s still being mean just for the sake of being mean just because someone is, in some way, different than you and then trying to justify it by acting like it’s cool as long as you don’t go after them for something that “actually matters”.

Person with housemates can study.

Person who has spent all their cash on rent and food still has a place to get out of the house and do something interesting.

Cool community classes and community art shows.

ESL tutoring.

Tax prep and forms.

tbh fuck anyone who says a single bad thing about libraries

Not content I normally reblog but libraries are super important and our world would be diminished without them.

The library was how I was able to read so many books as a kid that my parents wouldn’t have been able to afford.
