Lesbian couple unknowingly both bring engagement rings on zoo trip and propose to each other-CBS News

When one Tennessee couple went to the Memphis Zoo on Friday, they each had a secret plan to pop the question.

The Memphis Zoo is a special place for Becky McCabe and Jessa Gillaspie, because they’d gone their on their first date. When they went there with friends on Friday, McCabe had arranged for one of their pals to videotape the proposal.

The couple, surrounded by their friends, posed for a photo in front of the zoo. As one friend took their picture, another friend began filming in anticipation of the big moment.

McCabe held a ring behind her back and told Gillapsie she loved her. Then, dropping to one knee, she opened the ring box and asked “Will you marry me?” The whole time, Gillaspie cried tears of joy.

But instead of answering the question, Gillaspie turned around, grabbed her purse, and started digging around for something.

“Oh my God!” she exclaimed. Gillaspie pulled out another ring box.

McCabe, still down on one knee, immediately began laughing. Gillaspie had planned all along to propose to her, too.

Gillaspie opened the ring box and showed McCabe the ring she had planned to propose with — before McCabe beat her to the punch.

I didn’t see this on here and it was so cute I thought I’d share it.

Soquilichi Rescue Ranch: Urgent Fundraising ~ Cat & Kitten Rescue

URGENT HELP – WE’VE ON OUR WAY TO SAVING 31 KITTENS AND CATS BUT WE NEED YOU! PLEASE SHARE THIS POST.

What about if I told you that you could make a big difference today? I’m taking about saving a life! Please read this post in full and help!

We’re currently on our way to a terrible situation. There are 31 kittens and cats subject to a domestic violence situation and also deathrow we can save their lives. That’s right! 31 poor animals can have a better life if we all chip in and help.

It costs approximately $150 to save a life including vaccinations, vet work and of course desexing them.

31 kittens and cats are crying for our help but as you know our recent fundraisers have not hit target. So, the kittens are counting on our support. As we reach each $150 level, we will be able to save another kitten from this situation.

It pains me but I cannot take these kittens and cats unless we raise the funds needed to give the right care to each of them. The kittens are counting on you.

If you could give $5, $15 or even $150 that would be amazing.

If 900 of you just gave $5 each we would be able to save the kittens and cats. I’m putting up a live thermometer bar so you can track our progress as we save each kitten’s life.

A pregnant roe deer. At least I assume she is pregnant. I’ve seen her around here ever since last winter and she is now quite “full figured”. Hopefully I get to see her kids one day, but I’ll make sure to only watch them from a distance.

Fort Ancient could become Ohio’s first World Heritage Site

archaeologicalnews:

The Department of the Interior has nominated Fort Ancient to be designated as a World Heritage Site.

The Native American site near the Little Miami River, part of Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks, could become Ohio’s first World Heritage Site.

Ohio State Representative Scott Lipps (R-Franklin) said they are among the largest earthworks in the world that are not fortifications or defensive structures.

“I am thrilled to see Fort Ancient and the rest of the Ohio earthworks finally getting the recognition they deserve,” Lipps said. “Not only does this pay tribute to the history of American Indians in Ohio, but it will also bring more tourists and economic prosperity to the district.”

The nomination of Fort Ancient will be sent to the World Heritage Centre. Read more.
