@ my international followers: If germany does pass same-gender marriage tomorrow, pls dont make or reblog posts like “thank you Angela” or “thanks to Merkel there’s finally marriage for all in germany”.
No. No. She didn’t do this. She doesn’t deserve praise for this.
She and her party have opposed this for DECADES and just bc she’s not explicitly saying she’ll vote against it rn (bc there’s an election soon and she’s afraid for her approval rating) does NOT make her an lgbt ally.
Do NOT praise her for something she didn’t do.
(goes for my german followers too ofc, but non-germans seem to think Merkel is this liberal/progressive icon and just….no.)

UPDATE: she did indeed vote against it and in fact all the No votes came from her party :~)

ANOTHER UPDATE: no, this was not a plot by merkel to keep her conservative voter base (even if, it would still be shit to put old homophobes before equal rights to marriage). she’s just homophobic. she said so herself, she can’t vote in favour of same-gender marriage because of her ‘long held beliefs’ and bc she worries about the children. that’s homophobic, not a clever strategy.

The other thing that really upsets me about the Rat Park experiment that seems to get glossed over a lot?  Is that the standard environment for rats involved in medical testing is a lot closer to the bad “isolation chambers”. :/  Which besides having implications for humans, the Rat Park experiment just proved that many rats would rather OD on opiates than live in those conditions. 😦 

I don’t think that’s right.

Btw, if you want to help Animal Welfare Institute is the primary organization that’s been fighting for better conditions for rodents, and less experimentation.

I also came across this earlier in the park, going after that Porygon on the radar. Complete with the Geodude animation to make the scene that much more ridiculous.
