Y’know, the bitterly amusing irony of the whole “fake geek girl” furor in nerdy circles is that it basically selects for socially adept women who can consistently perform “sincerely geeky,” rather than sincerely geeky women, many of whom fail the various tests despite being no less into geeky stuff than the men presiding over their trials. Actually that’s true of a lot of gatekeeping: see also how shocked, *shocked* many feminists are to discover that they’ve kicked out a lot of basically decent guys who missed a word or two of The Terminology We All Know Is Right and welcomed many shitty guys who can perform “submissive-seeming dude who cleaves to all of feminism’s precepts” but are actually abusive, have committed sexual assault at some point, etc. with open arms.
Tl’dr, the people who obsessively gatekeep against the threat of fake geek girls (et al) actually ensure that geek girls will be more fake. Gatekeepers are the worst, and the first people left outside the gates should be those with an excessive inkling toward the keeping of gates.
Burn the gates. Eat the gates. Lightly fry the gates so they will be more palatable when we eat them.

I saw you loved JRTs, so let me show off my old man! This is Petey! He’ll turn 16 July 1st, and has been with us since he was 10 weeks old. He suffered a stroke back in April, but has been on the mend and is back to his spunky little self. His hobbies include car rides, walks at the beach, and farting, then leaving the room. 😛 He is my love, my darling, my only one, and I adore him even when he snots on my glasses ❤️
Jacks are tough. You gotta love ‘em.
