…before leaving the house, take a photo of your stove and oven dials—or your thermostat, or your iron, or anything else you worry about accidentally leaving on. If your brain starts to play the “Did I really turn it off” game, you can simply tap your photo app and see for yourself
Even in this particular case, which was actually prompted by getting out for a while to play Pokemon Go.
Still involves some walking around, and maybe even taking the bus. But, especially at night when things are less crowded? Still often a lot more manageable than going grocery shopping. Not the same stress of dealing with people, and then having to lug stuff home on public transport. As only a couple of the aspects which can make that more difficult.
Just as one example that may look more similar on the surface, but not so much once you think about what all is really involved in doing the thing.
This cat, who we’re calling Goldie showed up in our back yard this week, but is clearly not feral. She is a very special kitty and I think the right person would LOVE to have her as a pet.
She is an extremely relaxed and (probably) middle-aged lady. Not a playful kitten who demands a lot of attention, but a very friendly and cuddly people-oriented cat.
Favorite activities include:
*Sitting next to you on the chair or couch *Curling up at your feet and rubbing her face on your shoes *Getting her belly rubbed *Meowing “Hello” when she sees you for the first time in a while *Getting her ears and face scritched *Being picked up *EATING (seriously, this girl’s been powering through food! probably hasn’t had regular meals in a while. Just dry kibble, nothing fancy – she wasn’t interested in wet food we tried to give her)
She seems infinitely adaptable to changes in situation and not anxious or neurotic the way a lot of cats who’ve gone through rough times are. She also has encountered the feral cats who hang out in our backyard and, in keeping with her extremely chill nature, hasn’t been scared of them or aggressive towards them. She even let one eat out of her food bowl while she just sat all relaxed-like less than a foot away. So I imagine she’d do OK in a household with other cats.
We would totally adopt her, but we already have a cat who is very territorial and can’t have other kitties in the house. If you’re in LA and have room in your house/heart for this skinny girl, please let me know! Email me at jfruh@jfruh.com for more info. And please share this post to those who might be interested!

Friendly reminder that a lot of foodstuffs like this is originating from poverty, and isn’t ‘normal’ British cuisine, it’s that even with people working over 12 hours a day, 7 days a week (6 later but people were expected to go to church on Sundays) they could only afford bread and butter, IF they were fortunate enough to
I didn’t know you could do that, but Google suggests that at least some Android devices do indeed have mouse drivers
I think all do at the kernel level. My mouse can work as bluetooth device without the usb dongle and I’ve used it on a lot of phones before when my thumbs get sore. Most bluetooth receiving objects seem to have mouse/keyboard support, I think
how to get the perfect beach body: go to a beach. cover yourself in sand. allow your body to merge with the beach. become one with the sand. become the sand guardian. guardian of the sand. poseidon will quiver before you
“Is Poseidon quivering yet, Jeeves?”
“Indubitably, sir.”
we need the jeeves and wooster fandom to hijack more posts tbqh
