TED talk by Jared Diamond on why civilizations collapse.

I recommend the two of his books which I’ve read, “Guns, Germs, and Steel,” and “Collapse.”

It would be interesting to read for sure. Diamond’s other work has been criticised for eurocentricism and treating today’s hunter-gatherer societies as living fossils removed from “modernity” by indigenous peoples and indigenous rights advocates.

I highly recommend anyone who likes Jared Diamond’s work read Michael Wilcox’s “Marketing Conquest and the Vanishing Indian: An Indigenous Response to Jared Diamond’s Guns, Germs, and Steel and Collapse.” It’s available for free online to read if you google the title (I’d link it but I’m on mobile). Actually I also recommend reading it if you hate him too, it’s a very cathartic takedown lol
