I got some requests eons ago for resources to learn about antisemitism. Feel free to reblog or comment with more. My education was more formal, so these are resources that looked good, not necessarily where I learned.
- ADL on Antisemitism – a pretty good historical overview of the history of Western antisemitism but doesn’t go into a ton of depth or talk much about modern antisemitism. Still a good place to start
- “Antisemitism on rise across Europe ‘in worst times since the Nazis’” by Jon Henley – article is from 2014, but these trends continue
- “Does Your Progressivism Include Jews?” by Mirah Curzer – about antisemitism on the left & how to stop it
“Bad for the Jews: How to understand anti-Semitism in Trump’s America” by Isaac Chotiner
– discussion of “American Jewish life during the rise of fascism, false equivalences between left-wing and right-wing anti-Semitism, and how anti-Muslim bigotry has become a shield for anti-Semites"
- Jewish Virtual Library’s collection on Antisemitism – I haven’t read everything on here, but their content is always very good. I wouldn’t try navigating this without some background or a clear goal in mind. However, this list should be especially helpful if you’re looking for statistics & studies.
- Yad Vashem’s Free Course: “Antisemitism: From Its Origins to the Present” – haven’t taken this, but again Yad Vashem is great. This would be quite a commitment (6 weeks, 3 hr/wk), but based on the syllabus & their reputation it’s likely phenomenal. They also offer a course specifically on the Holocaust.
Tumblrs that post about antisemitism
- @jewish-privilege
- @returnofthejudai
- @writingwithcolor – designed for writers, but also a good place to learn about stereotypes of different groups (including Jews)
