Other Resource Lists

(While I tried to include the most helpful resources I could here (i.e., resources that lend themselves to one-on-one communication, individual reading, etc.), there are plenty of other great resources, including regional resources, listed in these links. Some of the resources are specific to men and others aren’t, but they are all helpful for male survivors.)

other people (cowards): but if we replace parts of our bodies with machines, are we really still…human?

me (woke, courageous): hey check out this sick ass laser pointer i just got installed in my pinky finger. drives cats fucking nuts.

Other unexpected ways my lifestyle has changed: I haven’t seen a snake in the wild for about 10 years now. Since the last time I was back home, in fact.

(Lots of other wildlife, too. Just reminded of the snakes.)

i love that we and cats share pareidolia (seeing patterns where they dont exist), but instead of seeing faces in everyday objects like us, they see snakes

that computer cord? snake. string? small snake. cucumber? short fat straight snake

snake pareidolia is one of the strongest things in human minds too! people report freezing mid-stride before being consciously aware of a snake in front of them, and the same happens with coiled rope, etc. in humans and other primates. it’s even been proposed that the need to detect snakes was a factor in the development of primates’ insanely good color eyesight

It’s because snakes are wonderful and we must stop and admire them at any cost

This really is one of the strangest stomach bugs I’ve seen so far, though.

Both of us started feeling off Monday or Tuesday, and he actually took Wednesday and Thursday off work because he couldn’t stay out of the bathroom. (And never would try some Imodium…) When he basically never calls in.

It definitely felt like some type of virus, and unusually he was hit a lot harder. I had some bowel problems Tuesday/Wednesday too, and still don’t feel right, but his were to the point of getting dehydrated.

That eased up enough that he went back to work Friday, and off gaming most of the day yesterday without incident. Figured it was mostly over.

So, last night he suddenly dashed off in the middle of eating some takeout. And has been periodically throwing up all night.

(AFAICT, just vomiting. Usually they go together, but alternating separated by days like this? 🤔)

I guess it’s possible that he managed to catch something else, or ate something he shouldn’t have. But, that seems less likely than its just coming from the same bug.

So far, I just seem to still be feeling like I have a cold without all the congestion, plus some hopefully secondhand nausea from being around him. We’ll see, though. Not that optimistic that it’s not just taking longer to kick in.
