this appeared in my recommended videos and i’m just, ??? what? what gave youtube the impression i had strong feelings about pentecostals? i don’t think i’ve ever even heard of someone giving this much of a shit about pentecostals? this is the longest i’ve ever spent thinking about pentecostals in my life. and why is there a saber tooth cat? is that the symbol of pentecostalism? i’m not even sure i know what pentecostals are anymore? what the hell

That saber tooth mascot is making the movement look a lot more interesting, tbh.

(I actually grew up in an area with a fair few Pentecostals, and IME they at least mostly keep it to themselves. Better than can be said for whoever felt a need to make that video…)

White collar worker and executives: “Hurray, it’s labor day weekend! 3 full days off! We are so fortunate to live in a Great Country that Cares about it’s Workers!”

Service industry workers who know labor day weekend is one of the busiest 3 days of the year which means double or triple shifts and not seeing family all while being forced to be not only polite but cheerful:

While also knowing that Labor Day was intended as a holiday for them and they still have to put up with this shit

Labor Day in the US exists to supplant the actual international Worker’s Day of May 1st (May Day, which originally started in the US) in which all laborers were entitled to a day off.

Capitalist bosses called “Communism” and tried to ban before giving a “patriotic American” version. Now May 1st in America is called “Loyalty Day” to “for the reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States and for the recognition of the heritage of American freedom.” (Dwight Eisenhower oversaw that proclamation, in the midst of a red scare, in 1921.)

i’m a diehard environmentalist and i still think plastic straws are valid and useful so these people have no excuse tbh

Honestly? Same.

People have no idea what I do to try and help the planet. They have no clue the lengths I go to to live in an environmentally friendly house and to minimize my impact on the earth.

I even wrote a god damn article about environmental activism vs performative activism in the Zero Waste movement, and gave examples on how to live a more eco-friendly life.

It’s ugh, it’s whatever. People are going to complain no matter what. At least I’ll be hydrated while they do it.

Are y’all five and can’t drink from a glass without a straw?

I have profound nerve damage in my face and throat that prevents proper muscle function. I also have cfs and other muscle problems. I recently discovered that using straws helps to alleviate some of the pain and difficulty out of being able to drink fluids, because it puts less strain on certain muscles. This means that for the first time in over two years, I have been able to finish a glass of water without choking. So no, not five. Just very fortunate to be alive.
