Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has a tiny puppy named Asterix and it’s amazing.
whoever did this, thank you.
I am all about this…
What makes this even better is the photo of him with his brothers:
HOW THE FUCK IS HE THE SMALL ONE?!?!
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and his family are why people used to fear Scandinavians. Holy Shit.
HE’S SIX FOOT NINE AND HE’S THE SMALL ONE
He is also one of the strongest men in the world
6′9″ AND IS STILL THE SHORT ONE!
Scandinavia, home of giants
Except for 4/5 members of one of my favorite Swedish bands are all wee. Like, I’m 5′8″ and they’re shorter than me. So Scandinavians are either massive giants who will crush you like a bug, or dwarves that will take you out at the knees and give no quarter.
Yep. That has also been my experience of being 5′9″ and into Nordic bands. Pretty much everyone either towers over me or is le smol.
As the legislative session winds to a close for the year, Assembly Bill 2943 was removed from consideration on the final day of debate. Although California passed the nation’s first-ever bill outlawing conversion therapy in 2012, AB 2943 would have built on the previous legislation by expanding its scope.
In addition to preventing the harmful, discredited practice from being performed on individuals over the age of 18, it defined any attempt to “cure” the sexual orientation or gender identity of an LGBTQ person as “fraud.”
AB 2943 passed both the California Assembly and the Senate with wide majorities early in the year and was set to head to Gov. Jerry Brown’s desk following one final vote in the lower house of the legislature. Brown, a Democrat who has signed many pro-LGBTQ bills during his time in the governor’s mansion, was widely expected to approve it.
one of the oldest and arguably the most important museum in Brazil is burning to the ground as we speak. home to the portuguese royal family from 1808 to 1821, the Museu Nacional stored fossils, meteorites, pre-historic human skeletons and a variety of artefacts related to natural history. it holds two centuries of latin & brazilian history and now it’s all gone.
some of the things that are now lost forever: the largest collection of egyptian artefacts in latin america; the skeleton of the largest flying reptile ever found in Brazil; the oldest human fossil ever found in the country, named “Luzia” (over 11.000 y.o) and other 20 million extremely important relics and researches just burned to the ground. never to be seen again.
thanks to our government, of course, who didn’t want to pay the museum the necessary funds to make the essencial maintenances since 2014 (which by the way, costed less than a supreme federal court judge’s sallary: R$520 in a year).
another sad instance where the state’s indifference towards culture and history becomes painfully obvious. this is a massive blow to our cultural legacy.
all that in our independe week. happy independe for us, brazilians, who just lost our history and culture in a fire caused by ignorance and indifference.
Hi! My name is Jesse and I’m a mentally ill trans guy. I haven’t been to the doctor in almost 4 years for various reasons and I really need the help to try and get there to at least get checked to see what all is wrong with me. My health is rapidly declining and I’m afraid that it’ll get to a point of no return soon. If you could, I would really appreciate if you would reblog or donate to any of these links. Thank you so much ❤
As world governments pursue policies to secure food sources and humanitarian organizations work on the ground to deliver aid, there are individuals like @chefbjdennis are making a direct impact in solving the long term problem of food insecurity.
Our soul and health has diminished in quality do to the over production of commodity crops. Improving agricultural biodiversity through sustainable practices may help alleviate food insecurity as well as soil erosion.
Industrial agriculture relies solely on monocropping, in which one genetic type of crop is planted on large tracts of land, while sustainable farms frequently plant a genetically diverse array of both crop type and species. Monocropping increases crop susceptibility to both pests and diseases. Entire fields of corn dried up before even forming kernels this past season which is part of the reason some of my neighbors finally started to understand what I’ve been trying to explain to them these past few years.
Enhancing biodiversity can protect communities from food insecurity associated with both crop loss and decreased yield.
These seeds that @chefbjdennis collected during his travels are going directly to our seed garden so that we may produce more seeds to share with our community. Included are Trinidad Flint acorn, Mississippi Silver Hull Peas, Sea Island White Rice Peas, African White Sourghum, African Guinea Flint Corn, and Trinidad Hill Rice.
I’m especially excited about the rice. It’s a variety that I grew up eating which has long since disappeared from our landscape. You can grow it like any other plant in your garden without the need to be planted in watery fields surrounded by dikes. Here in Haiti, it was called ‘diri solèy.’
@chefbjdennis, I thank you from the deepest corners of my heart 🙏🏽
Due to tumblr’s limit on the number of links that can be put in a single post I am breaking up the German resource list into two posts. This is the vocabulary section:
