“News that the Trump administration is proposing to penalize lawful immigrants for accessing health care, food and housing assistance and other government programs shows how far this administration will go to rip apart immigrant communities. This proposal would punish people for using programs intended to help them and their families live productive, healthy lives. It would force families to choose between necessities such as medical care and food, and their right to remain in the United States with their families. This proposal is another effort to restrict lawful immigration to the United States, and it should be seen for what it is: an assault on American values of decency and fairness.”
I am so excited to be a doctor. I know I complain about the bureaucracy and culture of medicine all the time, but I love the actual practice of it. I love sitting down with patients and working through their problems with them and having to challenge myself and always learn. I am so excited to create my own identity as a doctor and pursue my big-picture interests regarding Appalachian health. There is no doubt in my mind that I am going to cry so hard at graduation.
The medicine gods saw my happiness, so they had to crush it by giving us 10 new admits overnight.
