Indigenous Peoples’ Day is as good a day as any to reflect on colonialism not simply as a historical event that took place centuries ago, but rather an ongoing, global formation of power that profoundly structures pasts, presents, and futures.
I’d also like to add, not from Duolingo, but from the MHA Language project, there’s a Hidatsa learning app, for the endangered Dakotan language. It’s really nice and has pictures and the words are pretty and it makes you spell.
Mango, another language learning app (you gotta have a library card and a participating library tho), has Cherokee as well! (They don’t have Navajo yet, but they do have Hawaiian)
