the resurgence of “febfem” politics – bi women exclusively dating women for ‘political’ (i.e. post-traumatic) reasons – is just an extension of political lesbianism, which is in of itself an extension of radical feminist separatism. all of these trends posit that women can shield themselves from misogyny, combat patriarchy, and reach political enlightenment by only choosing to voluntarily interact with women, as if oppressive or abusive social dynamics were ever just something that only men are capable of enacting.
& the thing is … exclusively dating women can be a really healing thing for some women! at the very least it can be a fertile ground for learning to relate to others without the immediate threat of misogynistic violence. but … avoiding men does not translate to being free from patriarchy. it doesn’t even translate to being free of women that replicate patriarchal attitudes! if that were the case then lesbians wouldn’t experience misogyny. celibate women wouldn’t experience misogyny. gnc women wouldn’t experience misogyny. and yet they all do. combined with the fact that IPV rates in same-gender relationships are comparable to IPV rates in “het” relationships … idk guys. “just date women if you don’t want abuse!” is just yet another iteration of the same 70s radical feminism that has affected pretty much no overarching changes to patriarchy since then.

That poor dude tho, he just wanted to meet the whales and his family had to be like that
I have seen the explanation elsewhere that the caller wanted to have somebody aware where to look for the family if the whales had flipped the boat and the family went missing. 911 is how you reach the coast guard if you are not using the marine radio. I do not know whale behavior at all but I am pretty sure there are rules about how close you can get to protected wildlife in most places.
From the video it seems they are inexperienced boaters and the dad is not respecting the discomfort of the other panicky passengers. Even if he is a reliable source of information that the situation is safe (and the family might have experience otherwise, they don’t seem to trust his knowledge) ignoring the comfort of his family for a presumably “fun” activity is callous.
