My friend is having a really tough time right now. They’re falling short for their rent because they’ve been unemployed due to disability and if you know anything about America you know how tough it is to get disability and how long stuff takes around here.
I told them I’d help in whatever way I can, but I can’t help monetarily because i am also just barely scraping by. They have a webstore where people can buy handmade, vegan skin products. Everything on their is reasonably cheap and of really good quality. If y’all are able to, maybe head over to the webstore and get yourself something and help a gnc disabled babe make her rent this month.
Reblogging with some reviews and also some screenshots of their webstore for everyone to see. If you’re able to, my friend really does need the help. Like I said before, boosting their store is the only way I can help right now.
europeans really got stop pretending racism doesn’t exist in europe when their governments are shifting further and further right at the prospect of people trying to escape the chaos they created, as refugees.
just because american racism is largely but not exclusively targeted against black people doesn’t mean you’re less racist because your racism’s current preoccupation is with how many mosques are located in your borders
Don’t worry they got a lot to say about black people as well. Apparently as I’m finding out just not to our face.
Idk how they can deny their racism when they chant racist shit at the World Cup, German newspapers printed “we will build a wall around Mexico”, they throw bananas on the field at Black players like it’s not even implicit it’s very overt racism they choose to ignore because they get off on being better than America.
France has entire laws made explicitly to target Muslims, many which are brown and black. Italy is literally becoming a nazi haven because the government is a nazi united front, and they let their refugees die all the damn time.
Europe is the center of more refined ways to neatly sell nazism and fascism and they really should stop pretending otherwise just because their bullshit looks better marketed than the rest of the world’s problems.
If the
Mediterranean Sea
dried up, Europe would build a wall so fast.
Cops shoot an unarmed person of color in the back… everyone pretends it’s exceptional because the size of individual countries mean the yearly statistics look less shocking.
Every damn country in Europe imprisons refugee children.
They’re criminalizing the saving of refugees at sea.
Europe IS just as racist and far-right as the US.
I live in Germany.
A far-right party got 12.6% in our last elections.
A woman who has proposed to shoot refugees at the border and has talked about “burqas, hijabi-girls, [terrorists] and other useless people” is in the German parliament
A few weeks ago a video went viral showing a man in Berlin being attacked for wearing a kippa
When we had exchange students from Israel they were told by their teacher not to speak Hebrew too loudly on the streets “for their own safety”
Nazis are moving to the parts of my city with the most immigrants to attack them
Even some of the “progressives” say that they wouldn’t want a mosque in their city or that they have “nothing against muslims” as long as they aren’t “too public” about it. Those are the same people complaining about crosses being taken down in schools.
There are 79 teachers at my school, including 2 POC. For comparison, around one in five of the bus drivers I see are POC. The vast majority of toilet cleaners I see are black.
I mean yeah the media bombards us with how “horrible and racist” America is and they’re right but it’s not hard to see the racism here too. Especially racism targeted at religious minorities (namely antisemitism and islamophobia)
When it comes to topics like revolution, anarchist education, a world without prisons, voluntary communities of consent, abolishing the whole kyriarchy,
Anarchist conversations have been going on for over a century, defining terms, debating strategies, testing and learning from praxis, passing on knowledge, reinventing our way of thinking and acting from the ground up. And those conversations are very much alive right now.
So excuse me if I’m a bit annoyed when a centrist ignores all of that and claims that their “actually, we should do less change and more status quo” without any further arguments is somehow nuanced.
You don’t have to read a hundred years of conversations, nobody does. Anarchism isn’t about how many books you’ve read. But your claim at nuance is laughable when you are completely unfamiliar with the whole conversation. Conservatism is not nuance. You’ve never even dipped a toe into the water of this topic, what makes you think you can bring nuance here.
When Rokhaia Naassan gives birth in the coming days, she and her baby boy will enter a new category in the eyes of Danish law. Because she lives in a low-income immigrant neighborhood described by the government as a “ghetto,” Rokhaia will be what the Danish newspapers call a “ghetto parent” and he will be a “ghetto child.”
Starting at the age of 1, “ghetto children” must be separated from their families for at least 25 hours a week, not including nap time, for mandatory instruction in “Danish values,” including the traditions of Christmas and Easter, and Danish language. Noncompliance could result in a stoppage of welfare payments. Other Danish citizens are free to choose whether to enroll children in preschool up to the age of six.
Denmark’s government is introducing a new set of laws to regulate life in 25 low-income and heavily Muslim enclaves, saying that if families there do not willingly merge into the country’s mainstream, they should be compelled.
One measure under consideration would allow courts to double the punishment
for certain crimes if they are committed in one of the 25 neighborhoods
classified as ghettos, based on residents’ income, employment status,
education levels, number of criminal convictions and “non-Western
background.” Another would allow local authorities to increase their monitoring and
surveillance of “ghetto” families.
If you always assume the worst of people, you’ll never be disappointed… but you will be constantly bitter and isolated, so, y’know, maybe risk some disappointment now and then.
