and he claimed that he was checking for duplicate items. He mentioned that he was a “Community Admin for Steam” and if I do not appeal or cooperate he’ll delete my account. The threat is a scam. Brilliant threat. It scares you into thinking that you’ll lose everything. Fear is a powerful tool to get people to do what you want them to do-like giving them your items such as my aussies and unusuals my friends gifted to me for my birthday…. Thankfully I was clever enough to not trade my items to them so, the user, Pybro The Pyro started “Banning my account” while playing a non-steam game called ‘Banning “User ID” –%’

Take note of the language used by the “Steam Staff-member”. Poor grammar and spelling all around, which is generally not how professional community managers/moderators present themselves. Remember that these folks are representatives of a corporation, and will always act accordingly. 

Add to this the use of terms like “ban”, which is almost unheard of in today’s formal vernacular, instead of something like “account suspension”, which is far more commonly used now-a-days (though I will admit, this is not always the case).

Additionally, if action does need to be taken against your account, for any reason, online community staff certainly doesn’t need you to volunteer anything to them for the purposes of verifying authenticity. I guarantee you, they have 100% access to check anything and everything they could possibly need. If they don’t have access to check something on their own, then it’s not their job to be checking it.

Please note, everything stated above is more or less true for ALL ONLINE COMMUNITIES.

Finally, and I could only get basic verification for this, Valve Employees will almost never contact you through the Steam app, opting for email instead, and also display a badge on their profiles.

The Imam of Peace drops a MOAB on the U.K. Trump protestors

Hello rightsmarts, the latest in conservative news. I’m just reblogging this because it’s gotten around to the punk side of things and sometimes it seems like anarchists forget that PR is important in political movements.

The balloon cost around $3k to make and fill, the remainder of the money is going to go to take the balloon on tour. People DID donate $52,000 dollars to the Trump Baby.

They also donated $21 million to
The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services

(RAICES) to help the children in detention camps. The comparative cost of the balloon is about a quarter of a percent of what was donated to RAICES alone.

You know what’s great about a balloon? It’s ridiculous. It’s got a fun, airy parade feel. You go to a protest with the Trump Baby and you see people who share your values and are equally frustrated with the world – and it’s hard as hell to show a bunch of people having a fun old time with a parade float as dangerous antifa terrorists.

(Also it gets news cameras pointed at protests of Trump, and at this point we should all recognize the value of big stunts that get you free press because Trump sure as hell did.)

That and it gives frustrated, burned-out activists a bit of a laugh. We’ve got to have levity, we’ve got to be able to enjoy things and have a sense of humor. If we’re all grimly grinding away and donating all of our spare change to the ACLU and only ever talking about the horrible things that are happening we’re going to get too exhausted to carry on. Which is exactly what folks like rightsmarts and Imam Tawhidi want.

Oh yeah, that’s the other thing – imamofpeace up there bills himself as a moderate Muslim who wants reform but he’s supported calls for Muslim immigration bans in Australia. He claims to want reform to prevent extremism but denies extremism in his own sect and only targets Muslims of other sects. He doesn’t have many Muslim followers but he does have a lot of twitter followers who seem to like being able to point to Imam Tawhidi and say “see, I’m not islamophobic, I only want to listen to *reasonable* Muslims, like this guy who tells me how backward all those Muslims are and how they’re preparing to take over the west.”

So a professional pot-stirrer is criticizing activists for spending the equivalent of a quarter of a percent of their donations on a fun balloon that bring out large crowds to protest, creates feelings of solidarity and levity, and is an excellent PR tool.

Yeah, fuck off with your bullshit. People recently crowdfunded a couch for Elon Musk and tried to give Kylie Jenner $100 million so she’d be a round billionaire. Nobody should feel the tiniest bit bad for donating to the construction and display of a protest sign.

The Trump Baby balloon is a good investment on the part of protesters and helped ensure that Trump knows he’s not welcome or appreciated by the people of London.

(hey by the way this criticism of decadence and fun is the kind of puritanical authoritarian shit that you get from the right and from tankies and it’s why nobody likes tankies. bread AND roses, motherfuckers.)

Schizophrenic/psychotic people are especially vulnerable to various types of abuse and we need to talk about it.

If you’re used to doubting your own perceptions and relying on other people for reality checks, you’re much more vulnerable to gaslighting.

If you’re already paranoid, people can easily fuel that paranoia and use it to further isolate and control you.

If you’re delusional or hallucinating, people can manipulate you further into your delusions/hallucinations and use them to control you and abuse you.

If you’re used to ignoring your instincts because they’re rarely reliable, you might accidentally ignore som very real red flags.

If you rely on a person to take care of you, you may be forced to ignore mistreatment because you don’t have other options.

If you struggle to communicate with other people due to thought disorders, disorganized/atypical speech or lack of speech (alogia) you may struggle to speak up and ask for help.

If you have a psychosis spectrum disorder of any kind, it can be used by your abuser to invalidate and dismiss you if you do speak up against your abuse.

So please look out for your schizophrenic friends, relatives and acquaintances – cause we can’t always look out for ourselves.

It would mean a lot to me if you’d consider reblogging this as schizophrenics are usually the ones painted as dangerous and scary, and it’s important to me that people as many people as possible see that we’re usually the ones who are vulnerable and scared.
