so now, after FOSTA-SESTA has forced many sex workers, trafficked and untrafficked alike, onto the street, where violence and arrest come at much higher rates, trafficking victims are being functionally barred from getting our criminal prostitution records vacated (in the states that’s even possible to begin with), making it even more difficult than it already was to get “above-board” jobs and housing… pushing the formerly-trafficked right back into sex work.

Most child abuse is caused by law and society treating children like property.
Any single person’s sexual fantasy, however you might dislike it, or even a fan-archive full of such things (however you might dislike that), is at most a drop in the bucket compared to that.
You don’t have to like it. You just have to realize that, from a harm reduction perspective, which is what you claim to be all about, it is absolutely pointless to go after creators unless they’ve harmed an actual child. (And unless you have reasonable proof of that–such as an actual victim, to start.) It is also the opposite of harm reduction to spread pedophilia libel about queer people and clog whisper networks with victimless false accusations until they’re completely useless. Restricting freedom of expression won’t help a single child, and it will harm a lot of people, especially when bigots co-opt your morality laws. (Because, horror of horrors, most of these antis will someday grow up and be able to run for office and vote.)
You want to help children? You want to actually reduce harm? Protest Trump’s baby jails. Lobby your state and local legislators to introduce bills banning corporal punishment and increasing homeschooling oversight and funding and fixing the foster system. If you really want a challenge, try minimum basic income and easing the minor emancipation process (such as state-subsidized rent and automatic EBT until age 19, and lowering the age requirement).
Oh, but that sounds harder than yelling at queer artists and writers on the internet? That’s because it would actually accomplish something. Get out of here if it’s really just a ship war.
I’m reminded of a comment on a post where someone said, paraphrased, “oh my god, if you’re being abused, you should tell your parents!”
and it just struck home to me exactly how the anti movement does not understand the mechanics of child abuse at all. this almost willful blind foolishness, stubborn belief in something every reasonable source contradicts.

…hell, I WAS getting (nonsexually) abused by someone who was not my parents, and I DID do my best to tell them, and because it was a therapist supposedly treating me, they told me I was supposed to endure it anyway.
99% of the people I know who I know suffered abuse as a child, the abuse came either in part or in whole at the hands of their parents, and/or they DID try to tell their parents and were disbelieved at best and sometimes abused more for it.
The other 1% includes both those who opted to keep it a secret and take their own steps independently to keep themselves as safe as possible such as making excuses to avoid being alone with the abuser and/or learning self-defense techniques, often with good reason to think that if they tried to tell they’d end up like the chunk of the 99% whose situation worsened for telling, and then the rare lucky few who told and were believed by good parents who took steps to protect them.
the government is doing a consultation on the Gender Recognition Act and possible changes to it. I really recomend filling out the consultation, I’m linking via Stonewall because despite having a bit of a mixed relationship with them myself they have a good break down of the various questions in the consultation if you don’t know the exact legislation yourself.
please fill out it out to add more voices to those of our trans friends and family, particularly if you could speak out against the vileness that is the spousal consent provisions.

heres a bit more info for non brits: britain is not an easy place to be trans, let alone transition
– there is a complex and difficult process to obtain a gender recognition certificate which currently involves living as your desired gender for at least two years, with all the difficulties being trans in a transphobic society can bring, and no legal protection
– if you’re married, your spouse can block your application. you are denied the one legal recognition of your gender available to you. and as the uk does not have no-fault divorce, the end of that marriage could be very costly and painful
– terfs fucking hijacked the biggest most important pride event in england yesterday and the media reaction is. pitiful
– even if you’re not trans or LGB in britain please, please, this is a really important time to support trans people and vocally support the right to a self-determined, non-medical, independent of marital status, legal transition in this country
– the government has helpfully provided an online platform to do just that. i urge you to read stonewalls summary of this consultation and please fellow brits ADD YOUR VOICE because the government thinks theres only 4 thousand trans people in the united kingdom and it’s a fucking joke
People are so mad at this post for calling militant veganism “a vestige of colonialism” but it’s totally correct
Settler colonialism is literally the idea that you can come into a place and totally destroy all the indigenous knowledges about the land and how to live there, and replace it with your lofty intellectual ideal of What Everyone Everywhere Should Eat.
The point of the post is that what kind of food local farmers produce should be informed by the land they live on and what makes sense to grow there. Farmers should make decisions based on what is environmentally sustainable and ecologically sound.
So if you’re farming land that is naturally suited to producing rich, lush vegetation, by all means! Grow plants! Grow fruits and vegetables!
But if you’re somewhere that is hilly, arid, with scant, rocky, or saline soil, it makes more sense to farm livestock. In those places, producing meat is the ecologically sound choice.
Oddly enough, a farmer’s choice of what to grow, much like a person’s choice of what to eat, is incredibly complex and idiosyncratic and informed by so many variables that NO one-size-fits-all solution could possibly work!
But militant vegans take agricultural analyses that work in California and nowhere else, and ignore the role of water and irrigation to boot, and then claim they know what EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD should eat.
Also yeah farming on the current model in California has at last check devoured the entire Colorado River so maybe analyses saying it works there are pretty flawed?
