@ajax-daughter-of-telamon – Yeah, that’s what I noticed first with him. That, and he started having a lot of trouble with loose bowels. (Gross, I know, but a classic symptom too.) I was on the verge of packing him off to the vet when their note with the food they left for him mentioned that he’d just been diagnosed.

They didn’t leave any medication for him or anything, and it’s just seemed awkward to question them about it. The whole situation with him unofficially living here is awkward enough. But, I really do hope he will get some better treatment for it, because he’s continuing to lose weight and just obviously not feeling good :/ I’ve been pretty worried about the little guy lately, even before he pulled the disappearing act. Wouldn’t have thought nearly as much about that if his health hadn’t been deteriorating.

Frustrating situation all around, as you can probably imagine. They did take him to look into it in the first place, but idk.

Glad the radioiodine treatment worked well for your kitty, BTW! I’m sure that was a relief for both of you.

New project: Trying to hatch some Aqua Dragons totally not Sea Monkey knockoffs!

In a mayonnaise jar with a little LED push light on top to hopefully help them hatch better. (Same with the added aeration.)

They’ll probably end up near a window, but for now the warmest spot I could find is better. And the jar will get topped up some later with more salt water. Maybe transferred to a bigger, nicer looking container. I didn’t want the water level higher starting out, especially with thst airline splashing it around.

Yeah, I could have just bought a cheap bigger package of brine shrimp eggs intended for hatching to feed fish. But, sometimes the kiddy kit experience is what you need 😉 As it is, I ended up with the Aqua Dragons version because their refill kit was easier to find and a bit less expensive off eBay. Plus I’d never tried theirs before. Full kit experience aside, I’d rather use my own glass containers than pay an extra £5+ for a tacky little plastic tank. Especially since more room is better.

That’s been going for a little over a day now, with no signs of hatching yet. Even at a fairly warm room temperature, it may take a couple of days longer. But, looking forward to it, because the little critters are fascinating to watch 😅

One bit of relief, at least: I just heard the woman next door calling SNC in! 🐱 Sounded like she was talking right at him in their garden, not just trying to find him. So, hopefully he has just been staying in the warm over there *fingers crossed*

I have been pretty worried, because it’s been pretty cold here and I hadn’t seen him since he insisted on going out right before I went to bed a few days ago. His health hasn’t been the best lately, either, so that had me even more concerned. (Hyperthyroidism, as we found out a few months ago when they asked us to feed him while they were on holiday. Like we hadn’t been regularly for years now 🙄 Also feeling bad about not really being able to do much more to help him, but he’s technically not our cat.)

For anyone unfamiliar, he moved his grouchy half-feral kitty butt in with us mostly because he was being neglected and just left outside in all weather with no shelter. (They still don’t even seem to have noticed he’s been living elsewhere?! That much general attention other than putting food out for him.) So, I didn’t think chances were very good that he’d been holing up at his own official house the past few days.

Anyway, by earlier today I had pretty much concluded that something had probably happened to him, and he wasn’t so likely to be back. Definitely more hopeful now, since it did sound like she was talking directly to him. We’ll have to see.
