Not only has the US government forced Puerto Rico to try and get hurricane aid as a fucking loan rather than as disaster aid, now they keep denying the loans in an attempt to shut down and then privatize publicly owned/run utilities.
How are these officials going over fucking CONGRESS?
They aren’t, it was Congress that created these financial boards and which set up these oversight financial committees and which creates and structures FEMA and federal loan rules. Congress passed a new federal law in 2016 to add even more financial oversight committees (chosen and structured by the US government) to more directly economically control Puerto Rico on top of the old Control Board.
I can’t fuckin get over corporations tagging their ad posts “funny meme” literally no humans track the “funny meme” tag the only ppl who track that tag are 2 robots in Congress and a handful of space aliens who live in russia
“Alright, brainstorming session. Youre a tumblr user. Whats the very first thing you do when you wake up. Go.” “oh thats easy sir, i GOTTA check the funny memes tag”
This map should be included in every history book.
Oh wow! I’ve been wanting this for ages!
This needs to be in every history book along with a map showing where those nations have been pushed to now.
And on the wall of every geography class room in North America.
A few things about this map:
It isn’t looking at traditional territory. It’s looking at major linguistic groups. This has a rough correlation to some territorial boundaries, but it’s a lot more about geography than territory (look at how the rocky mountains divide up the languages on the west coast). So this wouldn’t be good to use to show ‘where those groups were pushed now’ because it doesn’t show the original territory.
It’s very broad in its definitions. British Columbia has something like…. I think it’s between 12 and 30 distinct languages within it. Here it puts those as like… 3 – 5.
It doesn’t use the nation’s ‘own’ names. It does sometimes, but there are a few here that are definitely the colonial/English translation of the actual name. Does that ‘really’ matter for a map like this? Eh. But if you want a map that’s hung up in every school and the whole ‘decolonize’ thing, might be good to use a map that uses the groups’ preferred name.

Boozhoo (hello), my name is Ken, I am a disabled Ojibwe artist from northern Wisconsin. I am writing this post because I am having a hard time making ends meet and any donations I could possibly receive at this time would be greatly appreciated. Recent events have left my bank account depleted and my cupboards bare, I have some food but it will not last and I still do not know how I will cover all the utility bills.
I do have PayPal, that is really the best way to donate at this time, the email I use for that is: baapimakwa@gmail.com, or you can click here.
Miigwech (thank you) everyone. Working hard to at least get caught up and still coming up short, every little bit helps.
Miigwech all, still trying to plan a big shopping trip, there’s better food choices and prices if I can get to Duluth, MN, this means 4hrs of travel and a need for gas money and most likely having to buy a meal for my driver. Though this seems like a lot for just food shopping it makes sense as local options, especially on the reservation, or the tourist trap of a town next to it, include far more expensive and less healthy options. Any help is greatly appreciated, hoping to get all stocked up before the first big snowfall.
Still trying to make this trip happen, and still short on utility bills for January.
